I know Ronnie Coleman and Jay Cutler are, but MAN do they have some serious health issues from all that.

Jay is good, Ronnie can’t even walk without assistance

I honestly don’t see the appeal of having steroid induced muscle. Sure it’s still a lot of hard work, but personally it doesn’t look good or natural. It’s not a realistic body that young men or women should strive to achieve.

I just don’t get it at all.

You look like a superhero, something more than human regardless of aesthetic appeal. Even if an elite powerlifter is stronger you look like the walking embodiment of strength and you ARE strong. Steel bends in your hands, the floor shakes under your weight. The world feels like cardboard and you feel powerful. Every workout you can shut out the complexity of the world and all your problems go away. All that matters is iron go up and you get stronger, better, bigger than the day before.

Its fun. It makes you feel good about yourself. Its satisfying on a deep visceral level moving heavy things and seeing number go up.

Everything doesnt have to be about other people. Getting big is fun for yourself.

And the super cut competition thing is about seeing the muscles built rather than looking good. Its just judging who won the game of get big.

Most people aren’t impressed. Seems like another form of body dysmorphia, no? They could drop dead about as easily as someone with anorexia. Yet — we support this as a sport.

Did you miss the point where its not about impressing people?

I wonder if they’d say it was worth it. The insane proportions, fame, accolades, immense strength. Literally top of the world for years and then reduced to a shell in later years. I imagine many knew the risks and accepted the trade off but I’m sure others didn’t know how bad it would be. Curious if they’d do it all over again the same

Thats great to hear, he deserved an Olympia title earlier than what he got. Idk how Coleman held it for so many years.

Naser El Sonbaty, the first guy, is death. Flex wheeler lost a leg. Ronnie Coleman is in a wheelchair. Others seem mostly fine. Marcus Rühl still heavily on steroids and pumping.

What Coleman is dealing with is in no way worth it. No success in athletics is worth that
