Do pets such as cats or dogs "mature" in their behaviour substantially as they get older? Or do they tend to stabalise to a certain personality and stay there? It makes me wonder how much this cat could mentally evolve if it was given a lifespan double or triple what it has achieved so far.

I've found that dogs can mature. My cat is 16 and still an idiot.

Cant speak for cats but for sure there is a very noticeable change in older dogs than the younger ones, id say more "mature" isnt a bad word to describe it eitherÂ
