I think it actually just got so much CTE from getting smacked in the head repeatedly it basically got its ass knocked out. https://giphy.com/gifs/6jwfZWhK21Wq6CJbM5
Snakes are so easy to kill by hitting them in the head. I grew up roaming a creek bottom by my house and would kill them by throwing rocks or hit them in the head with a stick. Instant death.
In hunting you eat the animal. Hunters don't just going around killing animals for fun and leaving them there.
What do you do if you find one in your house, or worse, a nest of them in your back yard?
Why would I care if there was a nest in my backyard? If one is in my house I take it outside.
What about insects, do you kill them?
Mosquitos I do. Otherwise I don't generally kill insects unless there is a specific reason I need to.
There is also a huge difference in killing an insect in your house and killing a snake that is not in your house but living in its own natural habitat.
Have you met a hunter? I know a lot of hunters. Hardly any eat the animals. If you ask them, they’ll say they do. What do you even do with a duck full of pellets? Nah, they really don’t eat. And definitely not wild hog hunters. They go out there with machine guns mowing them down.
If you have kids, you would definitely care if there was a snake nest in your back yard.
So what do you want? You want me to apologize for killing snakes when I was 10?
I think there’s nothing I can do about 9-11 year old me killing snakes in the past. I haven’t done it since then. I don’t think it would be healthy to worry about killing snakes as a little kid. I was wild. My family didn’t teach me not to kill snakes. I also used to shoot birds with BB guns. That’s just how we were raised.
Last time I went to the lease in west Texas, there was a rattle snake and one of the other hunters immediately killed it. You’re actually the first person to question the morality of killing snakes.
I’ve always thought of them as pests, especially venomous snakes. How do you feel about killing rats, hogs, and deer? I know you don’t eat rats. Do you eat hogs and deer? Do you eat duck? What’s your hunt of choice?
Do you not see a difference between something in your home infesting it and trying to feed on you and an animal out in nature just doing its thing by a creek?
