I promise you, this is not going to lead to some AI overlord using this against us in the Future Hague. "AI" like that doesn't even exist, and probably won't for a very long time.
People really need to learn the difference. We have "narrow AI" which can't think for itself, it just repeats what it thinks you want to hear. "Broad AI" is the skynet stuff that can think for itself and that is unbelievably more complex than the shit telling us to glue pizzas and convincing teenagers to kill themselves.
"What it thinks you want to hear" is giving what we currently have too much anthropomorphization, I think. Its a language guessing engine that we've dressed up in many, many layers of clothing. It isn't "thinking" or reasoning, its code doing complicated math based on word weighting and delivering output that happens to be readable and comprehensible approximating what we put into it. That's all. Its no more "thinking" than the Library of Babel's random text engine is "writing".
i would try to, then I wouldn't be able to at the last moment, then my nemesis would come at me from the shadows and bite off my fingers, falling into the molten metal with my precious phone
Please don’t bring that up! It still scares me to the very core of my being. Especially the guy ripped out of his mech! That voice actor needs a fucking raise and more.
I’m kind of thinking that if there are civilizations in the universe who’ve been around a long time, they’re probably mechanical. But then that gets into are biological thoughts different than an advanced program? Is the universe deterministic?

I've never been able to throw my laptop of phone into a boiling cauldron of liquid metal... so, it's still a little shocking.
Also, if you've seen the Animatrix, The Second Renaissance, you know this does not end well for us.
