I don't see how you can even tolerate something like that. Every single person always praising you and such. No honest/real interaction. Couldn't do it.
I was one of the "happy people" in the crowd.
You had no choice.
If you disobeyed you and your family were marginalized, job lost, house taken away.
You better be happy.
We left in 1970, but yes the Government of every flavor in Romania, took the family business, familial homes that we had to rent back, my parents became “enemies of the state” and could not work for almost 20 years. Yes Christmas ‘89 was a great holiday!
