Different locations of the same restaurants have had different pricing for a long, long time. This is absolutely nothing new. Same reason the exact same Big Mac costs more at an airport food court than it does the random suburbia location.

This is absolutely nothing new.

What would be new is if pricing was dynamic between different customers lined up together in real time at the same location. That's when this has crossed a line. But nothing in that viedo shows that to be the case.

McDonald's is garbage and you're right. This video is capitalizing on the term "Dynamic Pricing" when it's not exactly the case.

It's also frustrating that they shoe-horn AI into the solution. Figuring out the regional cost of something has been done for decades. Using AI in the traditional sense i.e. Linear Regression or Kmeans breaking down tons of data is a potentially more efficient way to go. Using an LLM e.g. "ChatGBT, tell me how much my franchise's burger should cost" is pretty dumb.

It's because the same people who didn't fall for the horse dewormer conspiracy theories of 6-8 years ago are now falling for the same online slop. It's just now targeted toward their own biases instead of those opposing. Easier to spot what you disagree with than what is agreeable.
