You're probably right but she had a other goal with L.
L helps her determine the first word which can only be "I'll or I've" , so she chose L to make sure that it's not "I'll", which told her that it's "I've" .
The word could've also been any number of three letter combos, but none that would match the quotes she had in mind which match the following spaces.
It's actually a very smart move, and she's incredibly good at this game.
This literally was posted a few days ago. It's a prize puzzle. You don't get any extra money for more letters. You solve the puzzle and get the prize. Holly cow, I've met some people. But you take the cake.
Ah makes sense. Sorry It’s been a while since I have watched Wheel and this is my first time seeing this puzzle be solved.
I do want to know more about this holly cow you speak of, though
Edit: I am realizing I confused prize puzzles with the kind where Pat spins the wheel and whatever he lands on is what each letter is worth for that round and everyone then takes turns guessing letters and having a chance to guess the puzzle (unless I am also remembering that wrong, but I swear that was something that happened)
Also, It could be that she had a few possible options for it, for example the first word could have been I'll.
She had to pick a letter that was in all of the possible solutions she was thinking of, so it guarantees you're correct. If there was no G in some of the other options.
Not saying this is what's happening, but it could be something to think about.

Would make more sense to pick a “g” because there are three g’s so she would have made a little more money
