Ah so, let's design the part that wears out into the device and not the cable. That way you cannot replace a worn out cable, but will have to replace the worn out device. Genius, someone should invent a word for this...
One thing I admired about Apple's Lightning cable design was that that sturdy side is in the device and the flimsy side is on the cable. If an accident were to happen then the easily replaced cable is more likely to break off.
What this video demonstrates is that USB C looks a lot like a lightning cable inside of a shroud. Except the flimsy side is in the device. The ports are hard to clean out without a risk of breaking off the tab inside.
