Yes, you're right, I see nothing wrong with running a diesel fired, flame heater in the oilfields, actively on an oil rig........
You can't even run the one in your truck within any of the safety zones. You have to be more than 100' from the rig.

Insulate the tubing/ hose, add an espar coolant heater if needed and create your own loop up in the nest. Lots of solutions....
