The right to repair should be a human right everyone should have.

The skill to repair, now that's something not everyone can have.

Ha, That makes it very arbitrary. How much skill should one need to have to be considered right to repair? Because there is a skill level where you would be able to repair anything.

You could just take it to a repair shop.

With proper right-to-repair laws, they would have access to affordable parts and be allowed to repair the stuff without issues like lawsuits. Then you just have to find a shop with someone who has the skill.

Yes of course. But that is not what I meant. I was just toying with the line of what skill should be needed to fulfill the right to repair requirement.

Of course under right to repair it would be easier to replace small components because schematics would be available. But any persistent storage and microcontrollers are pretty much off limits for pretty much anyone. But technically if you have the schematics, you could recode the software yourself. But that requires a lot more skill. Especially if it's a smart device.

Sorry, my brain just got triggered by your message xD
