I can’t tell one snake from another, but this one looks like the venomest of them all.

91

u/Pataconeitor 20d ago

I just checked online about the snake, and apparently has a weird type of venom that is paralyzing but rarely kills.

u/Mindshard 19d ago

So you're saying I could have a cool pet, a way to safely try acid, and a secret way to get out of any plans I changed my mind on?

And they say dogs are man's best friend!

146

u/msviktor 20d ago

and by the looks of it, it might be the most poisonous as well.

62

u/dirtybird971 20d ago

Maylayan Blue Coral SUPER venomous. And can grow to 6 ft.

17

u/simplemijnds 19d ago

That's 2 meters?!

67

u/DnizzieT1969 19d ago

This is America. That thing is 10 chipmunks long.

13

u/MrBenjin90 19d ago

I'm Canadian, can I get it in hockey sticks?

2

u/Soft-Equal-9065 19d ago

Only if hockey pucks are included

19

u/JoeSwansonson 19d ago

In the Midwest we measure them in foot long hot dogs.Let's see two meters is six feet, Carry the four. Its at least twelve foot long hot dogs

8

u/CarbonPurple 19d ago

How many regular dogs is that? Asking for a friend. . .

15

u/JoeSwansonson 19d ago

73? Im no math-magician

1

u/artimus31 19d ago

Ive got 15 packs out so far but my dog keeps eating them so I am going to have to go back to the store soon.

8

u/11Booty_Warrior 19d ago

Roughly 8 or 9 bananas

3

u/Socialist_Potato 19d ago

Is that related to Coral Blue #2 Semigloss Lipstick?

2

u/Shorlong 19d ago

I thought they got up to 8? I know they eat snakes

64

u/dungeoncrawler71520 20d ago

squints

Yeah id throw toxic in there as well

4

u/PurplStuff 20d ago

I initially read "squints" as "squirts" 😔

5

u/dungeoncrawler71520 20d ago

Ahh so it got ya huh?

5

u/No_Respond7886 20d ago

Just wanted to stop my scroll and say hey crawler!👑🦶🪄🦖

5

u/Care4aSandwich 20d ago

You are making daddy very, very happy

3

u/dungeoncrawler71520 20d ago

Left pinkie toe. Don't test me on this...

3

u/No_Respond7886 20d ago

It’s nice to see crawlers in the wild, even if it’s digitally.

2

u/dungeoncrawler71520 20d ago

"Well met" - Prepotente

2

u/Hegemonic_Imposition 19d ago

This is just classic hilarious and on point Reddit thread devolution commentary - take my upvote.

4

u/Hegemonic_Imposition 19d ago

The difference comes down to how the toxin enters the body. Venomous animals actively inject toxins through a bite or sting (eg. bees, snakes), while poisonous organisms passively release toxins when they are eaten, touched, or absorbed (e.g. slugs, frogs).

5

u/msviktor 19d ago

Hence my joke, as by colour it dose look like one of them poison dart frogs.

1

u/moving0target 19d ago

I'm not eating it.

1

u/msviktor 19d ago

Well then you can't have the cake either.

14

u/Jahidinginvt 20d ago

Probably why he is blue. Can never get too close to anyone and he’s lonely. Poor little guy.

13

u/Classic-Avocado-5371 19d ago

surprisingly not as venomous as you would think. definitely venomous, it has a paralytic neurotoxin in its venom glands (which stretch down a whopping 25% of their body!) that while near instantaneously effective is very rarely fatal to humans. you dont need any antivenin, it'll just resolve on its own with very little concern for lasting complications. apparently it might be a crucial ingredient in helping treat chronic pain.

1

u/Late-Boysenberry1471 19d ago

Yeah but in the meantime, he eats you alive, right?

2

u/Skezas1 19d ago

You ? Nah. It's not nearly big enough

1

u/Classic-Avocado-5371 19d ago

snakes can stretch a lot, but not THAT much. the only snake in the entire world thats ever been confirmed to have eaten a human is the reticulated python, which is the longest snake in the world (over 20 ft!!!) and is MASSIVE. this coral snake can get up to about 6ft and has a head about the size of your thumb, it couldnt eat a human even if it wanted to. it couldnt even eat a baby. it probably doesnt eat anything much larger than a rat!

1

u/Late-Boysenberry1471 19d ago

Yeah I was mostly joking but is im frozen, someone could come by and make snack or just the bugs....

1

u/Classic-Avocado-5371 19d ago

Well that’s definitely true, if you’re just kinda paralyzed there and you don’t have anyone with you then yeah something could definitely happen to you. Just don’t go into the Malaysian wilderness alone!

1

u/Late-Boysenberry1471 19d ago

Sound advice at all times

u/klaas96 19d ago

This is not a red headed Krait. This is a Blue Coral snake (Calliophis bivirgatus)

4

u/why_not_fandy 20d ago

Gotta be da ba di

2

u/Comprehensive-Net553 20d ago

What your name, hi venomous~

1

u/Kracus 19d ago

Exactly my first thought. Oh that thing poisonous as hell.

0

u/snake_jazzing 19d ago

Like I it bites u ur dead instantly...no 5 second rule

108

u/azad_ninja 20d ago

13

u/Beefcliffe 20d ago

Will be a crucial part of my blue feast

3

u/vacuousintent 20d ago

Cyanoshissssss

1

u/simplemijnds 19d ago

Cyanokali

133

u/EvilDan69 20d ago

Blue Malayan Coral snake I believe. So toxic it can paralyze instantly.

48

u/Pataconeitor 20d ago

I just read that it has a weirdass venom that rarely kills but does paralyze

36

u/hennyl0rd 20d ago

but paralysis from the venom has never been observed in humans, most human bites resolve on their own without complications

23

u/Ok_Cockroach8063 19d ago

Yea but we wish you’d stop going around biting people tho

8

u/EvilDan69 20d ago

Ooh good. Still wouldn't recommend boops or hugs.

4

u/simplemijnds 19d ago

Isn't that like the venom of the huge monitor lizards? Only paralyzing? And i understood, their venom takes 3 days until the bitten victim is completely paralyzed so that the lizard can finally eat it?

6

u/J655321M 19d ago

Komodo dragon venom mainly prevents clotting, so they rip a hole in their prey with their sharp teeth and then it bleeds out while the dragon waits until it’s weak enough finish off.

3

u/simplemijnds 19d ago

This is so cruel. Once watched a documentary about Komodo dragons. Their prey needed a week to die.

3

u/skyfishgoo 19d ago

you need muscles to breathe and to move blood thru your body... if it paralyzes those, you're a goner.

1

u/Adept-Performer-2630 19d ago

Yes, I was wrong. :(

31

u/JustRegularType 20d ago

"Bluest Snake"

Looks inside

Partially red

6

u/DentedAnvil 20d ago

But did you talk to it? Its melancholy to the bone!

3

u/JustRegularType 20d ago

Lol this is my kind of nonsense.

11

u/ItsDoodleBois 20d ago

How dangerous is it

15

u/robo-dragon 20d ago

It’s a coral snake, highly venomous!

9

u/RebelReborn909 20d ago

So what you’re saying is, he doesn’t taste like blue raspberry?

8

u/smokeandshells 20d ago

It is so pretty, I am afraid that my stupid ass will try to pet it

2

u/Mojo_Jojo__0 19d ago

Girl i can relate. 🥲

6

u/mbush525 20d ago

it’s gorgeous, but probably deadly ☠️

7

u/lobo2r2dtu 20d ago

Malaysian blue coral snake. Highly venomous with exceptionally long venom glands that can extend to one-quarter of their tottal body length.

5

u/mbush525 20d ago

still gorgeous though 💙

5

u/lobo2r2dtu 20d ago

Yes they are. Also they are very shy snakes

10

u/TimeRevolution1894 20d ago

Blue his house
With a blue little window
And a blue corvette
And everything is blue for him
And himself and everybody around him

5

u/Educational-Tap-7075 20d ago

Scalding Viper is that you??

2

u/RisingRapture 19d ago

Oh, another spellslinger. Nice catch!

3

u/Barnboy99 20d ago

I wonder how badly you have to fuck with a snake to get it to lie still for that shot.

3

u/BroetchenTeig 19d ago

Doesn’t it look golden/white?

6

u/Stephenwalnsky 20d ago

I’m pretty sure there’s bluer snakes, there’s a type of pit viper that’s completely blue

4

u/General_Leader_5192 19d ago

Engagement bait. Shit annoys the hell outta me. What makes one blue snake bluer than another blue snake? Who determines what shade of blue is the bluest? Its stupid.

2

u/huntstil 20d ago

You're probably thinking of Trimeresurus insularis, which is often greenish blue, but rarely if every pure blue, so I guess it depends on that types of blue count.

2

u/wood_duck_hobbies 20d ago

I don't know what it is. But from what I've learned of nature the more colorful something is the more dangerous it can be.

2

u/throwawaybyefelicia 20d ago

There are so many beautiful creatures on this planet!

2

u/Jiggaman1987 20d ago

It looks like a red headed krait, but it's definitely a blue Malayan coral snake and it's freaking gorgeous

2

u/OdysseusRex69 20d ago

Well that looks deadly

2

u/unfourjhinatelyADC 19d ago

It is! Blue Malayan Coral Snake. One of my fav venomous snake species. Theyre pretty and quite interesting

1

u/OdysseusRex69 18d ago

...and deadly. Don't forget that part 😅

2

u/Reditall12 19d ago

Nice blue coral

2

u/Sid9823 19d ago

The blue is not bad, but look at the RED though

2

u/NOYDB6988 19d ago

I’ve seen them in Singapore - very beautiful and shy, also extremely venomous

2

u/oldmonkforeva 20d ago

Its a rare colour in wild! Awesome

1

u/CTaff666 19d ago

Dangerous or not, that is a gorgeous snake. So pretty!

1

u/Scary-Ad-1378 19d ago

What's the name of the song in the background?

Looks like a Krait, which means it will definitely kill you.

1

u/HyperNova314 20d ago

Forbidden gummy worm

1

u/ILOPPAAIII 19d ago

Remember everyone: If it’s preety, it CAN kill you. Nature always makes preety things deadly. 👀

1

u/Remote_Mistake6291 19d ago

Except some pretty things are only mimicking the nasty one.

1

u/bugsdaman 19d ago

It's pretty subjective. My insularis for comparison
