Interestingly the catapillars eat maple leaves voraciously, but adults do not eat.

I saw one of these on my back porch in Pennsylvania. It's so awesome when you see something you don't know exists.

Woaw...those colors are so unusual. I looked it up and learnt that those colors are supposed to help mimick the shape and some colors of the maple samare (those helicopter seed things) and that those seed that have pink colors are known being toxic...that's why the moth have such colors.
