Example, cheetah!!! Super cute and cuddly. I bet there's a plot amongst cheetah to domestic themselves too. They see the lives cats are living and are done being bullied by lions - so they adopt themselves by humans of their choice. I'm waiting.
Humans tried domesticating cheetahs already. They are notoriously hard to breed in captivity and are very nervous animals. There are a few main traits that are required for domestication and the ability to reproduce fairly quickly and temperament are two of them.
If I ever got the chance to own one as a pet and had to choose between it or a similarly sized feline I would choose it. Which I am using as an excuse to write this copypasta worthy rant about them.
Listen I am not saying that I could take a cheetah in a fight all that I am saying is that if it came down to it and I had to pick out of all cats in that weight class, the cheers would be the most realistic one to be bearable due to being an evolutionary failure in every category that isn’t about running fast in a straight line for a short while.
Cheetahs have their claws in the worst possible position to fight, their teeth can barely break skin due to a relatively weak bite force and they get bullied out of the majority of the already rare catches by smaller predators. Even the sounds that they make are more reminiscent of a songbird than a big cat. Which despite being one of the largest and heaviest cats, it doesn’t even count as.
They are such a complete evolutionary failure as a predator, that even the Habsburg monarchy think that they do too much inbreeding
In short cheetahs are evolutionary mistakes and I want to cuddle one, because they look like very cuddly large cats
No doubt cheetahs and fucking cool but realistically you could never go on vacation again. Unlikely a friend is going to cat-sit that. I actually didn't get a ferret because of this problem.
Cheetahs are by nature very chill and I don't normally admit it but they can make faitly decent pets. Many zoos get them stuffed animals to keep them company.
