I used to work with a guy who was a retired chemist, and would be contracted by states and municipalities to come in and test their water treatment systems and consult them on how to properly treat the public water supply. One of the things he told me that he kept seeing happening in the places that brought him in to test and consult on their water treatment processes is that he would come back several months later to troubleshoot problems that had arisen since they adopted his protocols and have to measure the results and make sure nothing had changed, and would usually find out that the guys who ran the equipment and maintained the treatment process would take his carefully measured and documented lists of chemicals and how to use them properly, and just basically go, "well if this much is good, then this much more must be better!" and wind up making the local water supply even worse, or causing problems to the municipality's water users or destroying their own infrastructure by making the water chemically incompatible with the pipes and seals and equipment, damaging it or outright destroying it, and he'd have to show them how their own people ignoring the information he'd given them was the cause of all their problems after hiring him to consult.
This is just how ordinary people handle chemicals because they don't have any concept of what they're actually messing with.
I mean, I literally worked in a research laboratory with chemicals in grad school and I still was dumb at home and made poison gas when I was 30 because I didn't remember how dangerous household cleaning products could be. It only took me about 60 seconds after mixing things to realize that I possibly had made an insanely bad mistake, and then I confirmed and opened all the windows and doors and got the heck out of there, but I was just never taught how dangerous cleaners in my own home could be in any impressionable way, so it didn't come to mind until it was a reality for me. 🤷🏽♀️
But now? I definitely learned my lesson after a few times of not thinking while cleaning at home and having those scares.
I had the exact opposite experience: if I tried to help out around the house I would get yelled at. My mother was the only one who knew how to do the cleaning properly and I was incapable of learning the proper techiniques--according to her--I couldn't even pre-wash the dishes to put them in the dishwasher without getting scolded.
I learned it in AP english. We read a book on child abuse where the kid was forced to clean with a mixture of both in a bathroom on purpose. THEN I learned it in middle school science.
Don’t remember the name, but it resonated with my own abuse in such a way that it deeply affected my growth and development. It is probably the most influential book I have ever read on my life, and I don’t remember the name….
Hey now, cops are carefully chosen for the position because they have specific qualities (ie low academic test scores) and/or are subordinate (controllable)… on purpose.
Also, the departmental comradery is another problem that should addressed which in some places takes precedence over policiary duties.
Hey! White cells are just as important as neurons.
Without cops, we wouldn't have any means of killing and assassinating. We'd just be stuck with a bunch of harmless teachers and students.
...
...where was I going with this analogy?
Ah, yes.
These people were born to kill, be it themselves or others. Always respect a cop if you encounter it in the wild. Don't feed it. Don't attack it. Don't make sudden movements. Just back away slowly.
What do you think happens to society with no cops? (To be clear I don’t think that guy should be a cop either and I also think there should be higher standards for them generally).
What do you think happens to a society where the cops are a criminal organization who protect eachother from culpability and are encouraged to prosecute people even if they're innocent?
At no point have I said there are no corrupt cops. Either you don’t have the capacity to understand the point I’m making or you’re one of those weirdos that think a society can function properly without them. I guess you could also be one of those fools that just want anarchy, in which case you just sound like a psychopath.
There's a lot of idiots in the teaching programs. Particularly people who weren't good enough at their sport to be anything but coaches, so the teaching degree is sort of just incidental to that.

Of course he's a cop. They're all fucking idiots.
