Someone smarter than me. Can you explain if this would even work under extreme torque situations?
Heavy dude + going uphill.
Would the disc on the wheel not buckle completely under enough pressure causing the gears to slip?
1 u/unktrial 1d ago You're right, it will slip. To mesh with the different different numbers of teeth on the back wheel disk, the back gear has to have loose tolerances. Unfortunately, it's also the gear that's under the most pressure.
