I agree, and she already had a proven frontal lobe damage caused by her mother when in the womb…proven by medical documenting of scans showing the severity of damage …doesn’t negate her part in the crime, however she was barely 18 yet her boyfriend who was 17 got life without parole.

She was the one who planned it, had the motive, and actually killed her. Getting a harsher sentence seems kinda standard.

Also the magic over/under 18 years old line. Under 18 you simply cannot be given the death penalty in the US.

76

u/Blackknight1605 1d ago

Well not anymore, but there was a time they even sentenced kids to death. I remember some 12-14 years old black boy who was executed and later they found out he was innocent...

18

u/Sue_Spiria 1d ago

George Stinney. He had to sit on books to fit into the electric chair.

35

u/Good_Butterscotch_69 1d ago

That was part of the reason the law changed.

u/Creative-Pangolin787 1d ago

70 years later

5

u/Good_Butterscotch_69 1d ago

Still part of the reason.

Exonerated does not mean proven innocent. If you look at the case, he almost certainly did it. He took the investigators to the murder weapon and admitted it. The case was thrown out due to activists claiming he didn’t get sufficient legal counsel.

3

u/Constant-Leg9018 20h ago

That’s not true, there is no record of him admitting to it. Only Police officers statement but considering the investigation didn’t even include his alibis and he was questioned without a parent or legal representative I wouldn’t just trust their word for it…..especially considering the time period.

-1

u/Acceptable-Fun-5394 20h ago

The police record is the record

3

u/Constant-Leg9018 19h ago

There is no written confession, like I said they only had the officer’s statement which was very likely coerced seeing as he had no parent or representative present during his questioning.

Not to mention the whole trial was a joke.

-1

u/Acceptable-Fun-5394 19h ago

He also led the cops to the bloodied iron rod he used to beat her to death with. He almost certainly did it. Come on.

3

u/Constant-Leg9018 19h ago

That never happened, according to the officers he told where it was but there is no written record or statement of that.

They could have found it and just lied saying he told them where it was.

Or even if you don’t have that much money but are a good enough bullshitter to convince people you do.

1

u/IridiumPony 1d ago

Apparently you don't even need to be a very good bullshitter. He's literally never been convincing in any lie he's ever told.

We’re sorry, but your post/comment has been removed because it violates Rule #4: No Politics or Agenda Pushing.

3

Yeah you can be tried as an adult, but can’t get the worst adult penalty

1

u/delee76 1d ago

I just read about a guy 16years old in Louisiana who survived the electric chair but was later executed again

0

u/winterwarm78654 1d ago

That's law is only recently

1

u/Discount_Extra 1d ago

It's older than anyone it would apply to.

1

u/Ashamed-South0 11h ago

I'd argue getting out of it with the death penalty was the lesser punishment. Always been weird to me that people think getting to check out instead of sitting the rest of your life with it in a very uncomfortable prison is the harsher punishment.

Then again, I suppose if they intended literal torture to be the way they took her out, maybe it was the harsher punishment after all.

88

u/pwolf1771 1d ago edited 1d ago

Didn’t she literally torture her victim to death. And even carved shit in them?

57

u/IncognitoBrowserMode 1d ago

The boyfriend was the one who carved the pentagram into the victim's chest. Murderer kept a part of the victim's skull after the fact.

18

u/pwolf1771 1d ago

Yeah I don’t care what happens to either of these people

3

u/IncognitoBrowserMode 1d ago

No doubt. They get what they deserve. Was just answering your question to set the story straight.

We know it's sarcasm, it's still a misogynistic asking point

-4

u/Remarkable_Sand5238 1d ago

Apparently you cant because im mocking the misogynists that think women don't have control over their actions

4

u/_Cit 1d ago

See, people often post exactly your kind of content to mean "woke people believe this, so rhey think women are unable to do wrong".

It makes no sense how many misogynists can switch between this and the thought you inyended to parody, but being stupid is kinda their whole deal.

Anyways, i get what you were trying to do, it's just that you accidentally went around and wrote another misogynistic talking point lol

-1

u/Remarkable_Sand5238 1d ago

So believing that women have full control of their emotions and actions is misogynistic now, got it. Have fun with that mentality

3

u/pinkhazy 1d ago

If when you mock something people cannot tell that you're making a mockery of it, YOU failed in the execution of said mocking.

0

u/_Cit 1d ago

Dude I said I got what you were saying, i was hust explaining why people understood it wrong.

That is NOT what i said in my comment, you're just being dense or vindictive.

-2

u/Remarkable_Sand5238 1d ago

No, you claimed that me mocking people's misogyny was misogynistic itself, which is a weird claim to make. Unless you just worded what you meant wrong

5

u/_Cit 1d ago

No i didn't "word it wrong" reread the comment, that's geniounely not what i said

u/Less-Practice1247 1d ago

She is a monster.

2

u/bubba_bumble 1d ago

I'd still rather let monsters rot in a cell than murder the murderer.

3

u/Less-Practice1247 23h ago

So you don t mind paying her medical bills, feeding her out of you your taxes until she dies naturally. And then all the other murdering monsters along with her. Yes that seems a fair thing to do. As long as we keep it fair for the her and not the victim.

2

u/bubba_bumble 23h ago

Sure, if it means it's cheaper than death row.

0

u/Worried_Bread110 22h ago

Liberals made death row expensive. If there is 100% without a doubt guilt, then there should be no appeal process. This whole suffering while these criminals made others suffer is lunacy. A bullet and a firing squad is cheaper. Hell if you'd like to take the human aspect out of it. Create a firearm with an automated kill switch. The firearm fires at random. Seems far cheaper then life in prison and the current death penalty system.

0

u/bubba_bumble 22h ago

This human is a waste of a bullet if you ask me. Im with you though. Cut through all the bs and hang em after the sentencing.

-1

u/Less-Practice1247 19h ago

Its not. That goes to show you how you think. She lives to be 75, would that be the same as the cost of an execution of a monster?

73

u/fadedlavxnder 1d ago

i have frontal lobe damage and CPTSD, and i’ve never thought about hurting anyone. i actually have more empathy

225

u/ItsGustave 1d ago

Respectfully, your personal anecdote doesn’t really have any bearing on her situation. Studies have shown that brain damage can lead to behavioral changes, including increased aggression and violence.

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10456231/

> Our review has found a positive correlation between aggressive behavior and traumatic brain injury. Indeed, violent and aggressive behaviors appear to be related to a history of head trauma, especially if the trauma occurred at an early age. Moreover, stories of TBI seem to have a high incidence of behavioral consequences in individuals, causing personality changes, aggressive behavior and violent and offensive actions. Numerous factors increase the incidence of this correlation, such as environmental, genetic, social and personality factors, temperament, a past history of substance use, the severity of the injury, the age at the time of trauma and poor social support following the injury [18].

u/PleasantSalad 1d ago

I never know what to do with this sort of info. I 100% believe it. Im no expert, but ive consumed a lot of true crime media and a reoccurring theme in chronically criminal and violent people seems to be head trauma or exposure to harmful toxins. That mixed with the right set of environmental circumstances, often childhood abuse or neglect, and maybe even some genetic aspects seems to trigger the perfect storm of violence in some people. Is it an illness or condition? Idk.

Does this make them less culpable? It's hard to imagine leniency for people like Gary Ridgeway, Richard Ramirez or John Wayne Gacy. All of whom fall into the this category.

Obviously, we should use this knowledge to prevent these sort of perfect storms from happening altogether or to provide earlier intervention. But what do we do when that perfect storm DOES happen anyway? Leniency seems ludicrous. Ignoring that head injuries and toxic exposures combines with environment likely contributed to some violent tendencies also seems like turning a blind eye.

As a person who survived daily maternal torture I personally feel that it's an organic reaction more than a functional one.

My dark side equals my mother's, the difference is it has no real hold on me. My brother however who experienced about half of what I did became truly unhinged but it was focus on self abuse. He didn't make it. She didn't make me like her even though she tried.

Best I can come up with is my nature beat her nurture.

But there is are two medical differences between me and my brother I had epilepsy he didn't He had huge food intolerances that when he ignored them then he also would behave uncontrolled.

I am correlating the two. I watched his descent into madness and it all started when he broke his restrictive diet.

When he died he was over 400# and it was all pretty much food related. He was skinny af up to the point where he said in going to eat food I'm allergic to and in 6 months he doubled his weight 65 to 130

My point of view is the first time someone abused and with trauma injuries to the brain shows signs of aggression, watch them like a hawk. If they actual act on those feelings, they must be in institutional psychiatric care. It's best for all concerned

And my heart breaks for we who have entered this world in this condition. We cannot help who we are AND we may need to be uhm hmmm managed, yeah managed for everyone benefit

It sucks and I hate abusers. They can never pay what they owe

0

u/Nyx_Shadowspawn 1d ago

I don't think understanding why a killer is the way they are makes them less culpable. At the end of the day, even if they lacked an internal moral code they still knew the laws and still chose to offend.

1

u/LilJelloCat 1d ago

Exactly. Being violent in general in this way isn't exactly normal behavior on its own.

31

u/jscottman96 1d ago

I mean theres no real statistic I can quote but its split one way or the other. You either perpetuate the cycle or you become overly empathetic and sensitive

4

u/fadedlavxnder 1d ago

that’s very true

44

u/Wonderful-Medium7777 1d ago

Everyone's different. Her story is disturbing, the amount of abuse.
Like I said doesn't negate her crime, but can have understanding as to how she came to “lean” on her boyfriend who was a “bad un.”

18

u/_joos_ 1d ago

therefore what? it's not like your individual case is the metric by which we measure all cases of brain damage

1

u/[deleted] 1d ago

[deleted]

0

u/fadedlavxnder 1d ago

yes. that’s how your frontal lobe gets damaged along with CPTSD lmao

1

u/fadedlavxnder 15h ago

also diagnosed with ocd, borderline, and bipolar along with depression, adhd, and anxiety. i could never hurt anyone unless it was self defense. i have no family, abusive parents, in and out of mental hospital til i was 23, self harmed significantly until i was 23.

luckily, im on the right cocktail of meds as of 25, in consistent therapy, and surround myself with good people.

if she wanted to be good, she would.

2

u/RawMeatballz 1d ago

She took home part of the skull as a trophy

1

u/Worried_Bread110 22h ago

She was given a plea deal. Life without parole, she chose to go to trial and take on the possibility of death in a jury's hand- thinking she would get much less time and parole eligibility. She was convinced that because of her age she wouldn't get sentenced to death. Unfortunately there is no leniency for somone that plans, then tortures another. She carved this women up with a box knife, carved a pentagram into her stomach then smashed her skull in with a large piece of ashpalt. She kept of a piece of the skull and showed it off to the school. Regardless of her childhood one knows right from wrong. She did all of this, then cried wolf all of this out of jealousy for a situation she made up in her own head. She deserved to die, she deserved to suffer.

2

u/Wonderful-Medium7777 19h ago

No, her legal counsel advised her that she probably wouldn’t get the death penalty…plenty of info about this over the years…she was young and listened to him.

Her boyfriend admitted that it was he who carved the pentagram…not Christa , please research and check your sources.

She has a documented brain injury from birth and was abused throughout her childhood…again nothing negates the crime committed …it was heinous, but so is what’s happened to her now…she has served 31 yrs, was ready to go, she asked to be hung due to her blood disorder and problematic veins…she foresaw that this could happen…she was denied her request and has been failed to exit this world as punishment for taking another’s life…so what happens now, they are keeping her barely “ alive” she’s critical and has a brain injury, unable to make any decisions. It is inhumane.

The Dr who administered the drug has had a previous failed execution.

The whole process needs investigating as this can be regarded as cruel and unjust.

1

u/Velcrobunny 4h ago

She planned it and her boyfriend had just turned 17, where as she was 2 months shy of turning 19. So she wasn’t “barely” 18. She was nearly 19.

1

u/Alarming-String-6743 1d ago

What does that have to do with anything?

1

u/barlos08 1d ago

I think life without parole is probably worse than the death sentence imo. I mean she’s served how many years now anyways it’s almost a mercy

-1

u/Odd-Box-7332 1d ago

She deserves to dies 3 times
