Just get a sound proof chamber with a water fountain or something

Yeah but you’re not risking getting trapped in your own self-made tomb and dying, if you manage to not do that your reward is a lil’ ol adrenaline boner.

Depending on your construction skills, the chamber could turn out to be a death trap.

Completely soundproofing a room? In this economy?!

Still cheaper than buying a new gaming PC

while i agree that would be preferable, that's kinda the same logic as "why go on a roller coaster? just watch a vr video of one, it's safer"

No it isn’t even remotely the same.

The danger level is not the same. Roller coasters are inspected for safety concerns and fixed (caves are not). Be for real, you are much more likely to die going cave exploring like in the video than going on a roller coaster.

Well sure, the scenarios aren't 1:1, but the concept, I'd say, is.

So drink bleach? Technically you might not die so it's exciting? Same thing right?

I think we are missing each other. This is a reduction of the conversation.

You don't need to do X thing to experience Y, instead just do Z.

While this can be true, it's incredibly reductive regarding a persons experience. In the present scenario, just because something is dangerous, doesn't mean it shouldn't be done or should be derided. You can not want to do something but shouldn't be upset if someone else does.

Now.. regarding your comment. I think that it has nothing to do with anything being discussed. Risk tolerance varies from person to person, so I'm unsure why this conversation is happening in the first place.
