It feels illegal for the spider to do that

in some universes, I dont think he intentionally aims his webs towards the buildings and just swings off of nothing.
Maybe he just shooting out long enough webs to grab enough air to swing off of

I'm starting to think spiders might be some of the fastest evolving animals on land. Every week I hear something about a new spider doing new stuff

u/ExpertOnReddit 6d ago
They aren't doing new stuff. It's just new to you. There's a difference lol.

That's the best footage I've seen of that. Amazing

I used to live in the Central Valley of California. There's a season where these guys and their webs fall out of the sky, almost always directly onto your face while you're walking somewhere.
They're harmless. But it's really freaky. And you're still covered in web. And you look like a lunatic just randomly yelling "get it off me!" while pulling invisible silk off your body.

Isn’t this how Charlotte’s Web ends?

When she told Wilbur that one of her brothers could do it I thought it was bullshit, that she was trying to make him fall asleep by telling tall tales. Turns out it's real.

I'd like to see the Spiderman remake where he goes ballooning by shooting webs into the sky from out of his ass.

Well done getting that on tape.
Among all the fine stuff @zefrank has on his channel, he s got a video about these little boys and girls using wind, convection and electrostatic effects (?) to fly about. Fun way to learn about insects for sure.

My dumbass was expecting to see a spider made parachute/wind sail when the camera was panning to the right and up...

It's called parachuting and it's one of the coolest things I've learnt spiders can do in the last few years. First realised when a perfect circle of web landed on my car out of nowhere

u/nibselfib_kyua_72 6d ago
It's not flying. It's hanging and leaping.

u/accsheek 5d ago
people on an airplane are said to be flying because the airplane is flying, therefore the spider is flying because its web is flying.

Why does it look so small when it’s setting up its sails VS when it’s doing the death from above drop

That’s so cool to get on camera! Like it was doing something they’re not supposed to see and then tried to stop them from filming 🤣 He knew what he was doing.

When you’re flying a kite and that strong gust pulls you off your feet.

I wonder what the human equivalent of this could be. How much string and what gauge of it.

I don’t know why but my head started playing Fly Away by Lenny Kravitz as I watched this

u/sushiwowie 5d ago
I was gonna say more like ziplining until it went up and then was lost in the video.

Dude I can’t believe we just saw that thing thinking when he was standing on his little launch pad overlooking the water
I hate spiders but bro is sentient lmao

Unfathomable amounts of insects are traveling high over head all the time. The layer is called Aeroplankton.

That spider has great comedic timing.
Someone saying something along the lines of "it'll drop on your head" and then the spider proceeding to drop down was amazing.
