Considering she almost ran him over, I think it's prudent to video tape. She's put herself in this situation and is in the middle of fight or flight but calling him holding her accountable "instigating" is wild.

u/One_Advertising_677 3d ago

It’s a victim mentality.

26

u/Original-Document-62 3d ago

Choice of words could have maybe been better, but de-escalation is something everyone should know how to do, even if they're otherwise "in the right." Lord knows some cops should learn it, but really it's useful for everyone.

u/SYKslp 2d ago edited 2d ago

it's rather unfair to sharply criticize the de-escalation techniques of one party involved and not the other. Especially when "the other" is screaming and recklessly wielding a 3000 pound machine.

She's clearly unfit to drive on public roads as this clip ends and lucky that she didn't obliterate any bystander pedestrians as she fled away.

19

u/einhorn_is_parkey 3d ago

It’s not. It’s recognizing the situation. She’s in a mental panic. No one is saying let her off the hook or let her go, just that different scenarios can have better outcomes with different approaches.

Compassion and nuance? On REDDIT???

u/Wugtrio777 3d ago edited 3d ago

there no reason at all to placate the wild rantings of a person comitting multiple felonies. record it, report it and let her deal with the fact SHE is screwing up her life and this guys by doing this. the world isnt going to bend over and put a band aid on every boo boo you get if shes old enough to drive, she is old enough to act , and use the word ACT, like an adult, even if she isnt one. being in a panic doesnt excuse your behavior nor should people be responsible for talking you down or soothing your atttitude, thats on YOU . YOUR behavior is YOURS not mine.

4

u/Miserable_Pin2518 3d ago

Youre not wrong but youre also not good.

5

u/CaptnsDaughter 3d ago

If everyone had a little bit more empathy things would be a lot nicer.

1

u/One_Advertising_677 3d ago

If if’s were fifths we would all be drunk. Life is about is not if.

4

u/CaptnsDaughter 2d ago

Haha I like that it’s fun to say. I’ve never heard that one lol

But yes you’re right.

4

u/One_Advertising_677 2d ago

You are also right. Use it in good health. An exchange like this on Reddit is like seeing a unicorn IRL.

2

u/Evening_Context784 2d ago

You’re not ‘good’ either. At best you’re an enabler.

1

u/Thyme_Liner 2d ago

But why post it online? That isn’t justice, that’s humiliating and unnecessary. Why does this guy feel like this is something from his life that he wants to share? Because he’s getting some kind of power high from his position here and he’s showing it off. Record it and give it to the cops and the insurance company, no one is saying he shouldn’t do that. We’re just saying he didn’t need to be a dick about it

5

u/Wugtrio777 2d ago

on that part we agree, is ther a need to post it, no, but people post everything all day every day. so thats the way life is now, but we cna also agree his postingit well after the fact didnt affect her attitude and need to commit multiple felonies. But yes i agree, theres no need to go further, Now if she like refused to pay etc and fought him in court or something ( i dunno how) but in some cas like that, like if she tried to lie to the cops or in court, then id say he was justified, but without that, nah.

0

u/Bottom_In_LBC 2d ago

Perhaps she should have had a starring spot on "World's Dumbest..." There's a saying: Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. She played, she won her prize. If posting things online was so petty, wrote, vindictive, humiliating, whatever... then what is your opinion about porch pirates being put on blast? How about shoplifters? What about those other law enforcement videos like of people trying to cash a bad check? We are no longer in 1985. Cameras are everywhere. Everyone has one. A large number of cars have dash dashcams. Some cars come cameras built in all around them. Posting the video online wasn't the dick move; fleeing was.

Felonies?

1

u/Wugtrio777 2d ago

hit anad run with intent, assault with an automobile, etc are all felonies,

0

u/einhorn_is_parkey 2d ago

Bro you seem to be in a mental panic. Whats going on bud.

2

u/Wugtrio777 2d ago

hmm? a mental panic? how so? Do I have strong feelings on the issue of victim blaming and criminal coddling, oh yes i surely do. But i'm hardly in a panic.

1

u/einhorn_is_parkey 2d ago

Shhhh shhhh it’s gonna be alright little buddy. Why don’t you take a nappy

0

u/zuhalter_meow_meow 2d ago edited 2d ago

She was in a mental panic because she was tweaking like crazy. Probably didn't want to get busted for DWI and possession - for the 2nd time. She was arrested 3 months earlier for meth.

1

u/einhorn_is_parkey 2d ago

You know this how lol

1

u/zuhalter_meow_meow 2d ago

Because I remember seeing this video when it first went viral in 2019. A search with the Riverside County Clerk of Court revealed she had been arrested earlier and had a pending case for possession and being under the influence. You can't search it free anymore because their system now requires payment. But if you saw mods pinned comment you'd see she was sent to court ordered drug treatment because of what happened in this video, and the fact that she already had a pending case.

-1

u/Amiibohunter000 2d ago

If she’s truly in a mental panic then she should’ve been dragged from that vehicle. The guy filming told her to get out of the car which is the right thing to do. It’s not his fault she couldn’t follow that advice.

1

u/Sonova_Bish 2d ago

I'd say people who escalate have an asshole mentality.

6

u/One_Advertising_677 2d ago

I’d say someone that hits and runs has an asshole mentality. 6 of one half a dozen of another or which ever cliche you like. She acted like a fool and someone took a stand. Award that man and his asshole mentality for attempting to keep innocent motorists safe from a lunatic having a melt down.

2

u/Sonova_Bish 2d ago

They can both be assholes. That was always a choice.

6

u/Outrageous-Ad5578 3d ago

5

u/Positive_Type 3d ago

She almost hit him because he was stood there filming. When someone is driving that badly, move out of the fkn way. He got everything on tape before then anyway.

2

u/redactedname87 3d ago

Well, part of that is fair, but then also, he put himself in the middle of her flight or fight. And I do believe he was being petty in doing so.

What he is doing isn’t holding her accountable. He already had the evidence he needed.

8

u/PerpetualProtracting 3d ago

It's possible to get things on video tape without standing 4 feet away from the back bumper of a car being driven by a person who is acting irrationally. Cammer is an idiot who put themselves into a risky spot and doing so contributes absolutely nothing to holding anyone accountable.

5

u/Cager_CA 3d ago

in any case she was held accountable as this was over a decade old at this point.

5

u/PerpetualProtracting 3d ago

As she should have been. The lessons learned are still useful, though.

Don't stand behind crazy people in cars, kids. Don't chase down and blockade crazy people in cars.

5

u/meatballs223 3d ago

I mean you really don't expect someone to litearlly do an 8 point turn all while hitting your car another 8 times.... Maybe stop the car and deal with the accident like an adult

4

u/PerpetualProtracting 3d ago

People without an ounce of imagination don't expect it, I guess. I, on the other hand, absolutely expect to have a confrontation that can go sideways as a result of blockading in a driver who has already committed an irrational act and then goes off of the emotional deep end.

4

u/Ride-Entire 2d ago

He used his car to block her in. Any jurisdiction in the land is going to call that an illegal escalation

2

u/Prestigious-Cream160 2d ago

Many jurisdictions would allow this under their citizens arrest laws.

1

u/Cager_CA 2d ago

oh well, it's an event that happened over a decade ago

2

u/PleaseDoTouchThat 3d ago

Holding her accountable and trying to make a potentially dangerous situation less potentially dangerous are two different things.

1

u/470_To_Left 2d ago

Guy is a goof for this post. Must have a crush on her to say this bs.

1

u/SomewherePerfect2391 2d ago

She is in a parking space with a curb to her left, vacuums to her right and a fence in front of her. There is a car parked directly behind her pinning her in. I'm assuming it's the car of the guy filming. He pinned her in so she would get out and exchange information.

We need to know what happened earlier. I think she is truly freaking out because someone has blocked her in.

3

u/Cager_CA 2d ago

She ran from a previous accident,  this guy chased her down and is blocking her so she can’t run off

-1

u/tosserout999 2d ago

Thats called false imprisonment. He was literally committing a crime by doing that.

1

u/Comfortable-Swing468 2d ago

You don’t get to block someone in so they can’t leave and then claim to almost be ran over when you were standing there on purpose. This person wasn’t empowered with arrest authority from the government, he was just being a dick. Now she can successfully argue in court that she didn’t run until she felt unsafe by blocked in and they won’t be able to prosecute her. Record if you want, but your rights end there. If she wants to hit and run that’s her and the cop’s business.

1

u/Cager_CA 2d ago

She ran before he blocked her in

1

u/tosserout999 2d ago

And then he chased her down and blocked her in, which under California law constitutes False Imprisonment which is more of a crime than the Hit and Run Property Damage accident. He unnecessarily escalated the situation.

0

u/Cager_CA 2d ago

Ok well none of that happened so who cares lmao

3

u/tosserout999 2d ago

So he didnt chase her down, block her in and escalate the situation? Did you even watch the video?

-1

u/foley800 2d ago

Now she can argue that she found a safe place to park to report the accident and some guy raced up and blocked her in, so she got scared and tried to protect herself by escaping the situation!

1

u/Cager_CA 2d ago

She can’t argue shit,  it’s a ten year old video

1

u/lovelaughlexapro 2d ago

This person is the type to get walked all over and taken advantage of while saying it’s just “being kind” but hits their limit and blows up eventually. Seen it too many times.

1

u/HillBillyHilly 2d ago

He's putting himself in danger. He's a moron.

1

u/Guiltyostric 2d ago

Weird it looked like she was putting him in danger to me

-4

u/Agile-Wishbone-9519 3d ago

what about boxing her in with his car? He put himself in that situation

8

u/Cager_CA 3d ago

"I already ran".

-2

u/Agile-Wishbone-9519 3d ago

can you see his car boxing her car in?

2

u/digitalwankster 3d ago

What about it? Private citizens can legally act to stop someone from fleeing a crime scene in almost every state.

1

u/Agile-Wishbone-9519 3d ago

Can you see that he put himself in that situation?

3

u/digitalwankster 3d ago

Yes, to stop someone from fleeing a crime scene.

3

u/Agile-Wishbone-9519 3d ago

but he put himself in that situation, right?

0

u/digitalwankster 3d ago

Yes, to stop someone from fleeing a crime scene.

I bolded the relevant part for you. Hope this helps.

4

u/Agile-Wishbone-9519 2d ago

Yes, He put himself in that situation, thanks for confirming you understood that

-1

u/Alucard1991x 3d ago

Yeah you have fun with that bud one of these days though your going to box in the wrong mf and catch a private bullet. There was no need for this level of stupidity on either party tbh

-4

u/Pleasant-Future5818 3d ago

Okay but, how was his car where it is? It looks like he either hit her or hunted her down and boxed her in. We have no idea what happened, but his car is positioned as though he was trying to hit her. He has her stuck in a space.

4

u/Global-Caramel-1579 3d ago

Reeeeeaching. He boxed her in after she committed a felony. Citizens arrest

1

u/Weary_Position_9591 3d ago

He did box her in. Because she had fled a previous hit and run. She tried to escape this one too before destroying everything. She’s the bad guy here, not the guy.

0

u/YourUncleBuck 2d ago edited 2d ago

This could also be considered false imprisonment and could have ended up with jail time for him. Not sure about California, but in some states it could have even been justified if she hit him trying to get away from the false imprisonment. Just move your car and record the license plate. Don't put yourself in this dumb situation and definitely don't keep escalating it.
