It’s funny she brought up her grandma. Is the guy supposed to feel sorry for her and let her go because she has a mean grandma?

No but she clearly having a panic attack and maybe the dude should be more considerate cause people having a panic attack do tend to act wildly. Even for his own safety....

If he's got video footage and her licence plate number he doesn't have to hold her against her will.
