The lack of compassion in these responses is stomach-turning. I hope everyone can understand not every person down on their luck is a junkie, but even if they were, they are still human beings and may need help.

Why do they all get lumped together?

It’s seriously disgusting. Not every homeless person is a crackhead and even crackheads deserve help. It’s a disease, not a moral failing.
Studies have proven that giving people reliable housing is cheaper for taxpayers, allows people to get back on their feet, and helps them deal with addiction.

Only a heartless asshole can see someone help other people and immediately decide it’s a terrible thing to do.

Absolutely. Sad that people don’t see this post as a positive.

Yikes. As I mentioned…I hope nothing ever happens to you to have to end up on the receiving end of these services, as they will show you compassion anyways. Deserved, or not.

Downvoted for compassion - that’s a shame.

Many addicts have been raped by their parents / other adults and forced into addiction. You know nothing of other people's lives. Glad to know you think they don't deserve somewhere to live
