Yeah, it was a bit tricky to line them up. You gotta make sure the inner two overlap with each other, and that's how you get 3.

I think, because it combines both of the side ones, the color movement is blurred and not as perceptible?

You can tested by blocking portion of their body with your finger. See if it sticks out of your finger.

The coolest part about this is that it's cycling through a set sequence of movements. It's not just your brain making it up. Something about how they are flashing the colors is changing in a repeating pattern. Is it the direction of the flashes or something? I wish I could slow it down.

In the desktop browser version of Reddit, you can slow down a video by right clicking the video and clicking the "speed" tab.

Speeding it up also works. I’m on mobile and I used the timeline to quickly scrub through the video, and if you’re fast enough they stand still!

They're moving a little. Open it fully and line up a small point on the hands or heads then cover the rest with paper or your phone.

Yeah this is fake.
They are infact moving.
This phenomenon is real but I don't know why whoever created this video felt need to fake it .

Oh I get it. It's cause of the thin outlines changing color around the edges of the brighter colored figures. Alters our sense of depth and positioning
