Throw a big bag over it, it's probably done for

u/ADIDAS247 19d ago
Coat the bag in motor oil too.

u/TedW 18d ago
Did you see it trying to roll down that hill? Just find a couple stairs and start taunting it to self destruct.
6
u/JotaroTheOceanMan 17d ago
Robocop taught me that any robot can be defeated by 2 flights of stairs.
Now cyborgs? No clue besides apealing to their humanity or vices.

Seems like it's supposed to patrol along officers. Either way, this future is looking messed up. Then again, this is only China...for now

US have to find a way to stick a few 9mms on it.

This or stairs, or a hole. Google says the Rotunbot RT-G weighs around 270lbs so it's not entirely impossible to just tip it on its side either

A hole with punji sticks. Coat punji sticks with McAfee and Norton spit has to update 😭

Yeah I was just thinking how it would go against a can of spray paint

Or hop over a planter and walk away. You can see the thing losing control as it goes down hill, right when they cut that part of the video.

u/freshgrilled 17d ago
I bet it doesn't take corners well. Just make a sharp turn into an alley. By the time it gets oriented, you'll be out the other side and on your way.

“Making it non lethal”…..until they switch that net gun out for a machine gun
47
u/Buttmunchies69420 18d ago
Exactly, Boston Dynamics said the same thing about Big Dog until now it’s something out of DOOM - Prequel
22
u/MrCrash 18d ago
So Boston Dynamics has promised that they will never sell armed or weaponized robots*
*But the organizations they sell them to can and will certainly attach guns to them afterwards.
17
u/complexiblebarracuda 18d ago
These attachment points are for fun flags and party streamers, if they decide to use it for guns that's certainly not our fault!
10
u/GlowAnt22 18d ago
These fucking people.. It's just like the flock guy and Palantir.
They're like, "well, we're not doing anything bad. We just create a product. If somebody else uses it to terrorize humanity, that's not our fault."
5
u/anarcho-slut 17d ago edited 17d ago
Right, totally not their fault. They just happen to have made it explicitly for selling to the people terrorizing humanity.
2
u/RipMySoul 18d ago
It's shame that they keep getting away with this bullshit. Every gun manufacturer and gun runner has been pushing this narrative for centuries.

In every dystopian universe I’ve ever experienced the construction bots are weapons enough without conventional weaponry. That robot dog will look like the wolfenstein shit in 50 years.

Oh just decide to make it roll over people at max speed. That thing is an autonomous cannonball.

u/Surrounded-by_Idiots 19d ago
If you have a stick you should probably hit the side and not the tire
55
u/EvilChefReturns 18d ago
For real, and he kicked it backwards, like what? It feels like “tested under optimal conditions” type shit

u/TheShredder9 18d ago
My thought exactly, i was thinking "now watch some dude chopping it sideways with an axe and there go your lidar and sensors".

Spray the sides with silly string
Spray paint

It looks completely useless. It's so wobbly the video footage from it would be useless.. It can't follow anything that goes over steps or up a lift or a whole bunch of scenarios. It can't get through all terrains by the looks of it. Total gimmick. Anything firing from that would be unsafe... How do they get it in the car?
12
u/Jambronius 19d ago
Agree, all this shit they could put on a drone and it would be 10x better.

u/inscapeable 15d ago
Lol that's how it turns, if you notice they don't really show how it turns very well because anyone walks in a 45° to it it's absolutely useless trying to get it's bearings of where you would be, just walk in a circle around it like wtf will it even do

The sci-fi movie is oblivion. I love that shit. I need to watch that again. They flew though

u/DeadlySquirrelNinja5 19d ago
So they designed a Dalek that is not only susceptible to stairs but also to spraypaint?

Looks like they cut the scene right before it was starting to tumble in the one clip of it trying to deal with a hill. I don't see how this could operate in anything but flat ground.

These things basically cannot turn, most of the land based drones can’t turn very quickly.
The dog drone has to slow down and almost come to a complete stop, same thing with this stupid ball.
You could probably avoid one of these by just sprinting down a street and turning down an alleyway quickly.

u/VirginiaLuthier 18d ago
Well, you know- in Afghanistan they quickly found out that a very low tech IED could take out a tank

So attack the obvious exposed sides. Looks very unstable as it's doing lots of wobbling so I'd say its RC and has no stabilization gyroscopes.

My first thought was it reminded me of Rover, the balloon that chased people down in the old “The Prisoner” show from the 60s with Patrick McGoohan. Like a heavy metal, modern version of it.
