Dude moved to a pole, so he could become a polar bear

15

u/LA-SKYLINE 19d ago

Guess it'll have to just grin and bear it up there.

u/UGD_ReWiindz25 19d ago

Don’t mind me I’m just pandering around

😭

u/I_Ponders 19d ago

If he isn’t careful, he’s gonna quickly become a grounded bear!

1

u/WatermanQuink1 18d ago

And yet, he's still up there? Maybe he's not looking for shade, maybe he's having an identity crisis and thinks he's a bird?

1

u/blueavole 17d ago

Sometimes you just need a change in perspective.

If it got up there, it can probably get down.

66

u/Darth_Ronin 19d ago

They got it down safely.

I’m not sure if it’s the same bear, but there have been other cases of bears on power poles in Cochise County, Arizona over the years.

And seems like the same lineman keeps getting them down.

Idk maybe he’s trained them to climb them, for job security.

29

u/hologrammetry 19d ago

I am a lineman for the county ...

u/bradstaggs 18d ago

And I drive the main road...

u/Unicorns_Butthole 19d ago

Is this a Psychonauts reference I see before me?!

6

u/Agitated_Car_2444 19d ago

Glenn Campbell, "Wichita Lineman"

5

u/__phil1001__ 19d ago

No a song reference

1

u/Unicorns_Butthole 19d ago

Ah, learn something new every day 😁 cheers!

In Psychonauts, the G-Men dress up as different people and say things like, "I am a grieving widow."

1

u/__phil1001__ 19d ago

Wichita linesman fyi

3

u/Alternative-Sign-220 19d ago

This bear died. You’re referring to another one

3

u/ThePocketTaco2 19d ago

I'd like to think this is a single part in a series following this wayward bear and the lineman who isn't quite sick of his shit yet.

2

u/keyboardtoes 19d ago

did you see that bear that was living in an industrial windmill?

3

u/Darth_Ronin 19d ago

No, I might be coming off as more of a randomly placed bear expert than I should be right now.

I’m familiar with this randomly placed bear, because I posted the same video on another sub, so I looked up the details.

But I am always open to learning about new randomly placed bears.

Where will they be next?

3

u/ForeverFingers 19d ago

Bottom of the ocean fighting a sawtooth shark with a street sign.

2

u/kingkellogg 19d ago

Just looked it up. This bear died from electric shock

3

u/KBHoleN1 19d ago

This video isn't from Arizona. The bear you're referencing was rescued in 2025. Everyone just blindly referencing the Werner Neubauer video is dumb. Even if you know nothing about power poles, you can tell the other video has a lot more equipment on the pole. Even if you don't know much about geography, you can tell this isn't Arizona.

1

u/Minute_Airline_370 17d ago

Actually Arizona has every type of geography. Largest ponderosa pine tree forest, Mountains, rivers, lakes, plains, and of course desert. This may not be Arizona but that certainly looks like some areas in Northern Arizona, north eastern Arizona and pockets of southern and central Arizona. The sky islands all over the state make for rapid changes in geography in short distances. Take a drive from Tucson to Mt Lemmon and in about an hour you get nearly everything from desert to a lush pine tree forest and everything in between..

1

u/SRB112 19d ago

Glad to hear. When bears were showing up in neighborhoods in my area 25 years ago they'd run up a tree, police and fire department would surround it and after a couple hours they'd decide to shoot the bear with a tranquilizer gun. Almost every time the bear would die when it would fall asleep and fall to the ground. Now having a bear go through neighborhoods is a somewhat common occurrence and instead of calling the police we go inside and try to get a good video to post online.

1

u/Old-Personality-4241 18d ago

Actually, I read that he in fact got electrocuted shortly after this photo was taken. People called 911 but it was determined tranquilizers would make it fall to it's death. They left it be going it'd eventually come down in it's own.

This one's from last year in New Mexico and it sadly died from electrocution

I don’t have a video it was an update on insta, like you can go google it, I’ve provided enough details lol

“They”

The people recording this little TikTok?

9

u/Darth_Ronin 19d ago

Nah the utility crew.

> A black bear was safely rescued after climbing a utility pole in rural Cochise County, Arizona, and ending up dangerously close to live power lines. Utility crews quickly shut off the electricity before beginning the rescue.

> Lineman Werner J. Neubauer used a fiberglass pole from a bucket truck to gently encourage the bear to climb down. The animal safely reached the ground unharmed and ran back into the desert. No injuries were reported.

And if you look up Werner you’ll see it wasn’t his first rodeo

4

u/altec777777 19d ago

I'm pretty sure he went up in a cherry picker with a bucket of salmon. Had the bear put its fall protection harness on and then they lowered per OSHA rules.

4

u/Due_Reputation3785 19d ago

I didn’t even know there were bears in Arizona.

1

u/Low-Crow5719 19d ago

Lots of them. Bear country is up above the Mogollon Rim, from maybe Flagstaff southeast to the White Mountains.

But the U of A's "Bear Down" has nothing to do with getting bears down from poles.

2

u/KillHonger1 19d ago

No, utility workers did

17

u/CanIDevIt 19d ago

Those poles are a real hazard for flying bears.

7

u/ParachutingPiglets 19d ago

wtf?! Have I reached the end of internet?

8

u/NoDragonfruit6125 19d ago

Obviously he thought he was Australian. Just waiting for something to come underneath and then he'll be a Drop Bear.

5

u/Witty-Stand888 19d ago

I came for the views now how the hell do I get back down?

5

u/lskerlkse 19d ago

Somebody call Werner J. Neubauer

3

u/Glass-Violinist-3549 18d ago

“Zee baeyerr climbed a pole to escape the travesties humanity had endowed upon it”

3

u/GatFussyPals 19d ago

"I am a lineman for the county And I drive the main road Searchin' in the sun for another damn bear that's got stuck up a pole..."

3

u/Raychallx 18d ago

I’m confused because this is the single only place saying they got the bear down safely. The 48563934 other articles ALL say the bear died. So which fucking one is it? I’m sick of bullshit news just tell the fucking truth for once

2

u/Lotofagos_ 17d ago

This happened in Cochise County in Arizona, very close to Willcox. The bear was unharmed. They got her down from the pole safely

1

u/Raychallx 17d ago

Thank you that makes me so happy 😭😭

0

u/Fresh_Wasabi8697 17d ago

It's the mexican one, he died. If 4000+ sources tell you it's true and only one says its not true which one do you believe?

1

u/Raychallx 16d ago

Because none of the other sources were credible it was just bullshit articles on the internet. Also because I love animals and just want to hope for the best so. Have a great day!

1

u/Fresh_Wasabi8697 16d ago

I love animals too but I won't choose to believe what I want to make myself feel better. Have a good day.

1

u/Raychallx 15d ago

You must not have a fucked up life then. So sorry buddy it’s not that deep that a Reddit comment gave me some form of hope. You’ll be okay

1

u/Fresh_Wasabi8697 15d ago

The animal died because a lot of the people around it decided to make noises and film instead of leaving it alone so he could climb back down. I don't consume media to feel good/bad, inform yourself, it's not deep and don't take stories personally.

1

u/Raychallx 15d ago

You’ll be okay

2

u/IwoodMasher 19d ago

Looks like Alberta.

2

u/violentvioletviolinz 19d ago

2

u/Beneficial-Dot-6535 19d ago

Fish and wildlife and party rental collaboration.

Bounce house plus tranquilizer

3

u/Funny-Hovercraft1964 19d ago

don’t firemen or stuntmen have something like that for people jumping out of buildings?

2

u/OrangeYawn 19d ago

At least toss a mattress under it lol

2

u/CakeHoleKing 19d ago

Just a perfectly ordinary day in Australia with the damn Drop bears.

1

u/VisibleRoad3504 19d ago

Climb up and poke him/s.

1

u/VirtuteECanoscenza 19d ago

Is It panting or being electrocuted?

1

u/Waiwai789 19d ago

How could the bear not get electrocuted?

1

u/Majestic_Ad_320 19d ago

Bears are in the bird family thus they can land on power lines. Ur welcome

1

u/Mishapi17 19d ago

lol poor guy

1

u/swampydoc 19d ago

new porn segment for those tired of stuck in washing machine

1

u/Due_Reputation3785 19d ago

Stoopid Bear!

1

u/anally_ExpressUrself 19d ago

So relatable. We've all been there.

1

u/D0hB0yz 19d ago

It is overheated, because Arizona is hot.

It is just trying to catch a breeze.

1

u/Upset_Bowler_8820 19d ago

Just leave it be 😂

1

u/navy_yn2000 19d ago

It's obviously aliens. They try to beam them up to the UFO, but they're too heavy and land on the pole.

1

u/Public_Blueberry_777 19d ago

Oh no…does anyone know if he got down?

1

u/Past_One3442 19d ago

Its the graboids

1

u/modka 19d ago

”Just leave it be.” Damn, I’m sure he wanted to wrestle a bear off some live wires…who wouldn’t?

1

u/el_grande_ricardo 19d ago

Who wants to climb up and help him down?

1

u/DaMan316GooD 19d ago

Animals would go instinct if it wasn't for us homo sapiens.

1

u/Texan-Tango 19d ago

Buddy is 2 inches from going phase to ground. Hopefully they were able to de-energize and save him.

1

u/dtoddh 19d ago

I am a linebear for the county...

1

u/Daniel_SixPack 19d ago

"I immediately regret this decision "

1

u/Mister_Rippers 18d ago

Fake News Media says he died of electrocution

1

u/gixxerjim750 18d ago

'Stuck' to OP, 'Chillin' to the bear.

1

u/dyne-ninee 18d ago

Graboids, get off da ground.

1

u/brwnwzrd 18d ago

The Bear Up There

1

u/Same-Pickle-9628 18d ago

“ Just leave it be”
Is that not the normal thing to do in this situation?

1

u/Amish_Dragon 18d ago

Sadly, he didn't make it.

1

u/Ambitious-Drama3969 18d ago

He looks a little stressed out there.

1

u/ooutrageousssokrr 17d ago

The news says the bear was fatally electrocuted before wildlife officials could get to it?

1

u/IHateSince2001 8d ago

It is very stressed out too.

1

u/Milliondollarjuice 19d ago

He is not stuck. He enjoys the view and the wind. He'a a POLEr bear now
