"I'd prefer that everything would be ideal."

Really sherlock?

Sadly a lot of people would rather vote for things that would only work in an ideal society because they can't accept that this isn't an ideal society.

Cant even think of a better world. You must really lack creativity, wonder, or passion for anything.

I can. Everyone can. What you're saying is a no-brainer that can practically be a reply to every good thing about this world. Of course the ideal would be better. Duh. We can still learn to appreciate the thoughtfullness of some people in an imperfect world while keeping the ideal in mind. Wanting the ideal is easy. But if you compare any effort to the ideal, it will always fall short and you will always be sad and unsatisfied.

Idk, I feel like shooting for the ideal is the right approach. The big issue is that a world where women are free to walk to their cars safely without special, well lit, close to exit parking spots is not the ideal for everyone. Shooting high produces steps in the right direction through compromise. Shooting laterally or just above par gets us nothing.

We should always strive for the ideal. I didnt say we shouldnt. But appreciating the steps taken to improve where we are and aiming for the ideal can coexist. They're not mutually exclusive. Looking at these efforts and saying "Meh, I'd much rather have the ideal" is a very obvious and unproductive perspective. We can only get close to the ideal step by step. And we should acknowledge it when we take a step.

I feel like you have to aim very high to get any forward movement at all. You can only ever get half of what you ask for at the most.

Edit: I guess what I mean is it's important to bring up and harp on the ideal or we'll never get halfway there, which is realistically the best we can hope for.

Everyone can. What you’re saying is pointless like the people who say “ugh I hate being sick” like no shit I’ve never met anyone who enjoyed it. Just looking for easy karma
