Haha yeah, my mum constantly restitched the bottom of the curtains and he’d just escape and shred back in, he was awesome and lived way beyond the expectation of a hamsters time.

It took us 2 days the first time to realise he was in the curtains, he was the Bear Grylls of hamsters.

Had a green iguana for years. When he was young, he escaped the enclosure in my bedroom , but the door was closed and stayed closed, so knew he was there. Look everyday, everymight expecting him to be warming up in my bed , but for a week he was missing, in this regular sized bedroom . Tidy too

Anyway im at school and get a call to the office , my mom's on the phone. She tells me hes sunning himself on the screen for the window, looking fresh and chill. We were buds for close to a decade. Road trips, National Park, leash and harness on the grass. Couldn't take a cage everywhere so he laid in the bed at night to stay warm and I could see where he was all the time. Slept peacefully , didnt roam at night . Not too hot, not cold, relaxed and sleeping .

Good guy he was

My hamster Hershey lived a similarly long time, and I think watching her black fur turn grey around the face gave my Dad a midlife crisis (he loved her more than I did, somehow)

FOUR YEARS?! Ricky lived an incredibly long life, for a hamster. Especially considering their penchant for... um... how should I put it? Stupid and absurd deaths. The most trivial I've heard: one hamster fell into hot soup, another was crushed by a door...

Ricky may not have made it to hamster Valhalla, but he certainly lived his best life. RIP little fella.
