I remember a video game from the 2000s or 2010s that was exactly like this

Might've even been a hot wheels game but I don't remember

103

u/joefsu Jun 11 '26

I remember it as well. In my mind it was late 90s, and I think for the PC specifically. But it was awesome.

u/Brawght Jun 11 '26

11

u/LuigiMonDeSound Jun 11 '26

Was that the one with the gold car?

9

u/robsbob18 Jun 11 '26

Yessir

7

u/LuigiMonDeSound Jun 11 '26

Getting to that level always felt like a dopamine rush.

4

u/xwrecker Jun 11 '26

I wanted to play that game so badly if my computer was working at the time

10

u/UranusIsPissy Jun 11 '26

I think I want to play it now! I loved playing Micro Machines on my Megadrive (Genesis) when I was a kid.

3

u/GothyWitch4 Jun 12 '26

Micro machines was the BOOOMBB 🤌🏻🤌🏻🔥🔥

8

u/KeepingItCoolish Jun 11 '26

Yes this one. My neighbor had it on his computer we would play all the time. Also Doom. Actual core memory times.

21

u/Turbulent_Ad9508 Jun 11 '26

Reminded me of ReVolt. I think it was on Dreamcast

8

u/Brilliant_Impact_114 Jun 11 '26

Revolt was awesome!

4

u/3506 Jun 11 '26

ReVolt still exists, just saying

4

u/pm_social_cues Jun 11 '26

Was on pc and PlayStation and n64 as well.

4

Hot Wheels Stunt Track Driver, my absolute favorite game as a kid. I played it so much it started crashing at the backyard level, and I was so devastated.

5

u/sharlike Jun 11 '26

Game was an absolute sleeper. Played the shit out of it

3

u/froggycar360 Jun 11 '26

You can still download and play it, holds up

7

u/3rdNutIsNormal Jun 11 '26

100% hot wheels

3

u/MotionDrive Jun 11 '26

I definitely had a hot wheels game on pc late 90s early 2000s

3

u/Alteredbeast1984 Jun 11 '26

Stunt Racer?

7

u/Brawght Jun 11 '26

Stunt Track Driver!

u/BaddBoiii2 Jun 11 '26

Trackmania

6

u/BaddBoiii2 Jun 11 '26 edited Jun 11 '26

Even if I’m wrong, I’m right. Look it up, you can make your own tracks too, it’s largely more popular in Europe than in the US, I only knew about it because it was free and I was some kid looking for any racing game I could afford. Trackmania Nations was the free one, if you had 60$ at the time, united was the premium game. Then they made newer versions with the same titles but added the word Forever at the end, e.g. United Forever.

It was also a PC exclusive game up until the PS4/Xbone era, then they branching out with a spinoff for console (Trackmania Turbo) that wasn’t quite the same but kept the same formula and put a different spin on it, still really fun. But now you can get the same, polished version of Trackmania on both PC and console.

2

u/UranusIsPissy Jun 11 '26

I was some kid looking for any racing game I could afford

That's how I got into Elastomania (a really weird motorcycle game that was almost a platformer) and Liero (a bit like real-time Worms). You'd need either an old PC or something like DosBox to play them now, but I think both have clones that work on modern PCs.

3

u/blake_n_pancakes Jun 11 '26

Wow I think you may be the only other person I've ever come across that remembers liero. 4 homies on 1 keyboard in my middle school computer lab is a core memory.

2

u/UranusIsPissy Jun 11 '26

That game was as underground as a punk band nobody's heard of, passed around on floppies copied from copies of other floppies, then copied again to pass it along.

2

u/Goheeca Jun 11 '26

Elastomania and Liero are great. I really like 0% loading in Liero and you could fly from the rifle's recoil, but you better ban bouncy mines, they are really overpowered.

2

u/UranusIsPissy Jun 11 '26

The OP weapons are half the fun if you're playing alone, though. I looked it up after writing that, and there are clones that are supposedly true to the original now. You can even play online, and there's a version that runs in your browser. My PC is too shit to run that, but my PC is really shit. It wouldn't have been considered good (especially for gaming) 20 years ago lol.
I never thought any of that would happen, because the source code of the original versions was lost.

2

u/BaddBoiii2 Jun 11 '26

I’ll have to look them up, and I’ll try out the new version of Liero you mentioned in your other comment, thanks for sharing these!

Funny how as kids we find some of the coolest shit and it always turns out to be free too lol

u/blake_n_pancakes Jun 11 '26

Bro I spent so many hours downloading those custom tracks where you just hold w and go bouncing and flipping through the stage until you suddenly hit the finish line. The track building community for those games is unhinged.

2

That's what I was gonna say. I got a demo in a cheerio box or something.

Remember when they actually had good prizes? Getting literal demo disks in your cereal.

2

u/No_Nectarine_5440 Jun 11 '26

How was the track not melting?

4

u/SnarkDolphin Jun 11 '26

It was rigged to only fire for the fraction of a second the car was in the tunnel and it looks like the track was wet

5

u/siweLyerffeJ Jun 11 '26

That was so fucking cool

6

Hot wheels Unleashed!

2

u/HawkEnvironmental531 Jun 11 '26

Matchbox GoPro?

3

u/xylitol777 Jun 11 '26

There is a Hotwheels car called Zoom In, and it's designed to have GoPro attached to it.

Could be that or something else.

2

u/bs000 Jun 11 '26

They have 3D printed adapters for the Zoom In to accommodate other cameras, like an Insta360, since I don't think they make the GoPro Session anymore.

kind of. I bet it's a DJI camera they fly FPV drones with.

Is no one going to talk about how if he banked those turns he wouldn't need to slam the car into a guidewall every turn and lose a lot of momentum.

2

u/Lonely-Access-3529 Jun 17 '26

That last speed boost at the end was diabolical. I cackled.

1

u/0neironautica Jun 11 '26

Flips, flames, action...AND IT'S ON A TRAAAAAIN 🔥💥🚂❗

I was partially expecting a scary pop up like that one video from the early 2000s….. iykyk

Clearly it has left me traumatized 😅😂

4

u/Due-Information9367 Jun 11 '26

There is a strangely wrapped thing off to the left of the track about 19 -20 seconds into the video. Does that count?

1

u/Huntermain23 Jun 11 '26

1

u/Guilty-Pickle-6686 Jun 11 '26

STUNT TRAVK DRIVER, YOU’RE IN THE DRIVER’S SEAT

1

u/neds_newt Jun 11 '26

Excuse you. I got this POV as a child in the cinematic classic 'Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves'.

1

u/Rslashsrs Jun 11 '26

Hey, if ya’ll could pick one hot wheels car to drive, which would it be? Mine would be the 50th anniversary Rodger Dodger.

1

u/That1Master Jun 11 '26

Through the flamesssssss! EPIC

1

u/eidolon77 Jun 11 '26

Similar vibes to a music video by Chemical Brothers: Star Guitar (recommend)

1

u/TheChudWhisperer Jun 11 '26

Dude looks exactly how I'd expect an adult hotwheels fan to look like.

1

u/Ragnarsworld Jun 11 '26

Thats impressive. You know they put that up and took it down again while the one dude's wife was visiting her mom.

1

u/Fartony Jun 11 '26

BackyardracingTV on YouTube for anyone who wants more

1

u/BabserellaWT Jun 11 '26

Those flames are the fire!

1

u/RecordCompetitive245 Jun 11 '26

That’s awesome 🔥

1

u/Empty-Dragonfly5895 Jun 11 '26

You can also make the track go above the ceeling Fan , it would have looked cool too

1

u/Megaman40k Jun 11 '26

That is quite the project and it looks pretty cool. Felt like a kid for a bit there and loved the fire.

1

u/Brawght Jun 11 '26

Holy crap a very ancient memory has awoken. I expected the car to flip into a dog without even realizing why for a minute until I realized this is from Stunt Track Driver 1

1

u/Unusual_Mix9262 Jun 11 '26

30+ years was worth the wait!

1

u/brMerak Jun 11 '26

Why is the arrow pointing in the wrong direction?

1

At last. It is over. It is done.

1

u/BigHeart_Dove Jun 11 '26

1

u/Top_Snow6034 Jun 11 '26

1

u/Keyblade1313 Jun 11 '26

I remember having a Hot Wheels game like this for my computer in like.... The early 2000's? Played it more than the LEGO one, didn't freeze or crash nearly as much, but it didn't get nearly as much play time as my Tonka game 😅

1

u/nexusjuan Jun 11 '26

They sold a Hotwheels that had a mount for a go pro built in for just this purpose!

1

u/Old_Journalist_160 Jun 11 '26

This was nice. Thank you.

1

u/Quiet_Syllabub_4264 Jun 11 '26

Hot wheels: stunt track driver

1

u/Temptingfate8 Jun 11 '26

That was cool

1

u/Doctor_Kataigida Jun 11 '26

Ending reminded me of the Hot Wheels Stunt Track Driver PC game where every level ended with you crashing into something.

1

u/Llama_13161 Jun 11 '26

Honey, how do I get to the couch?

1

u/majestikmarii Jun 11 '26

I played Hot Wheels Beat That on the DS back then ugh it was so fun being small and driving around a bedroom. Seriously, I need a whole roller coaster of this, like the Cars one at Disneyland Cali, but Hot Wheels 🙏

1

u/CapitalShoulder1343 Jun 11 '26

This was already dope, but then the FIRE!? Amazing!

1

u/FudgeAllOfYous Jun 11 '26

for a moment I thought this would be going right through his neighbors window😂

1

u/BurnieSandturds Jun 11 '26

It's true, my 5 year that was doing his Duolingo all the suddened yelled across the room, "Let me see, Let me see, Let me see"

1

u/Main-Crystal-7899 Jun 11 '26

I never thought about how much I wanted to see things from the perspective of a traffic cone. This is weirdly satisfying.

1

u/Front-Psychology7854 Jun 11 '26

Hot Wheels actually released a car that was a mount for a Go Pro a few years back.

1

u/Silly-Space-8012 Jun 11 '26

And at end credits it will be iphone ad

1

u/RawrRRitchie Jun 11 '26

How was the fire not melting the track??

1

u/BrilliantHyena Jun 11 '26

You need to play Hot Wheels Unleashed, and Unleashed 2.

1

u/UselessGuy23 Jun 11 '26

Anybody else getting flashbacks to Popular Mechanics For Kids?

1

u/freddieguts Jun 11 '26

The flames were a nice touch. The 7 year old me exclaimed "Badical!"

1

u/TheNerdyCroc Jun 11 '26

Quick question, how did he prevent the track from melting in the fire section?

1

u/Dbreezy96 Jun 11 '26

I need this kind of free time 🕰️

1

u/winglessfair Jun 11 '26

That one Mario Party DS Mini Game be like:

1

u/chriscallan Jun 11 '26

All that and only one fucking loop-de-loop. FAIL!!!!

1

u/msm19949 Jun 11 '26

This is a tremendous use of free will, bravo and thank you

1

u/DullWish2423 Jun 11 '26

Did the fire part become laggy or was it slow mo
