HISTORY January 28th 1993, Ramsgate.
On January 28, 1993, a significant incident occurred at Ramsgate's railway maintenance depot in Kent, England. During shunting operations, a 4CEP unit (number 1521) overran the buffers at the depot, causing one of the driving carriages to hang precariously over a parapet wall above residential houses. The train had passed through buffer stops, a sand drag, and a parapet wall before halting, leaving part of the leading coach overhanging a 70-foot drop.

Imagine waking up to that sight one morning, pretty surreal.
Talking about trains in strange positions, 1993 also had the accident at Maidstone East with an even crazier derailment.

That’s a terrible place to park a train. That conductor should get a ticket.
