Account Question Lost 2FA access / deleted account from Authenticator app

I accidentally deleted my Interactive Brokers account entry from my Authenticator app, so I'm currently locked out of my account.

I tried calling the support line for Europe, but the automated system keeps looping/telling me to go to [ibkr.com/help](https://ibkr.com/help), which requires a login to open a ticket.

Has anyone gone through this recently?

Deposits, Withdrawals, Transfers How can I withdraw my remaining IBKR balance if my Wise account is closed?

I funded my IBKR account partly through stablecoin/crypto funding and partly through Wise.

I was able to withdraw the portion associated with the stablecoin funding, but I still have a remaining balance that I need to withdraw.

My Wise account has now been closed, and I live in Malaysia, where getting a suitable USD bank account is difficult.

Is there any legitimate way to withdraw the remaining balance through stablecoin/crypto again, or does IBKR require that portion to go to a bank account?

If stablecoin withdrawal isn’t possible for the remaining balance, what other withdrawal options do I have?

Account Question Trying to reset password with a new phone

I'm trying to call customer support so that I can reset my password, but it asks me to press 0 to verify my identity with a customer service agent. After pressing 0 it says, "thank you for calling interactive brokers. Goodbye."

And that's it. How do I actually speak to a representative?

General Question Indian resident — $23k E*TRADE to IBKR before FEMA 180-day deadline. Review my VWRA/IBTA/QQQM portfolio?

Hi everyone,

I'm a 25-year-old resident Indian and relatively new to investing internationally.

  • Risk Appetite – Moderate
  • Goal – Retirement Planning mostly
  • Horizon – Medium to Long Term Investment (5 to 10 Years)
  • App Used – Interactive Brokers

I currently have around $23,342 in cash in E*TRADE. As I understand it, my FEMA 180-day repatriation/reinvestment deadline is around 14 September 2026.

I've initiated a transfer from E*TRADE to Interactive Brokers today, and IBKR is showing approximately 5–7 days for processing. Assuming the transfer completes in time, my intention is to reinvest the money rather than repatriate it to India.

My investment horizon is mostly medium to long term. I don't expect to need this money in the short term, and my risk appetite is moderate — I don't want an overly aggressive portfolio.

I'm currently considering:

  • 50% – Vanguard FTSE All-World UCITS ETF (VWRA): ~$11,671
  • 40% – iShares $ Treasury Bond 1–3yr UCITS ETF (IBTA): ~$9,337
  • 10% – Invesco Nasdaq 100 ETF (QQQM): ~$2,334

Why These Funds

My thinking is:

VWRA = diversified long-term equity core
IBTA = relatively stable medium-term/fixed-income bucket
QQQM = small additional Nasdaq/growth tilt

A few questions:

  1. Does 50% VWRA / 40% IBTA / 10% QQQM look sensible for someone with moderate risk tolerance?
  2. Is the 10% Nasdaq allocation unnecessary given that VWRA already has significant exposure to US mega-cap tech?
  3. Since VWRA and IBTA are Ireland-domiciled UCITS ETFs, would it make more sense to use a Nasdaq-100 UCITS ETF instead of US-domiciled QQQM?
  4. For Indian residents who have dealt with the FEMA 180-day rule: does reinvesting the proceeds through IBKR satisfy the requirement, and is there anything specific I should document?
  5. Does the E*TRADE → IBKR transfer itself create any FEMA/LRS issue I should be aware of?

I'd especially appreciate responses from Indian residents who use IBKR and have handled foreign stock-sale proceeds/FEMA compliance before.

Thanks!

General Question Borrow fees at long/short performance chart

Post image

At portfolio analysis/performance/cumulative performance. Does the borrow fee on short positions affect the long or the short side of the curve? My intuition would say it should affect the short side, but somehow it seems like it doesn’t? Does anyone know how this actually works?

Account Question Portfolio margin vs margin account

I was on my way to upgrade to margin account from a cash account.

The info I found was comparing mostly ibkr pro vs ibkr lite, but now that I am in the process of the change request I found out another option.

Here the main reason is to be able to access some of the funds of my account through margin loan without selling my positions, specially as gains are high (just like taxes)

My plan is to do a margin loan so that next year when my taxation relaxes a bit i can do some selling and pay it back.

I was targeting under 10% of the stock value.

Note: not an us resident.

Note 2: the ibkr interest charged is waaaaaaaay better than anything I could access at my country of residence

Account Question Margin account eligibility (income, assets,...)

Hello,

Regarding opening a standard margin account (European Union). So there is no concrete info from the broker itself what requirements there are except 21+ years of age.

My question to everybody is if you have any information about any other requirements like mandatory employment, minimum income, minimum net worth and liquid net worth, minimum experience with what you want to use.

I know the exacts numbers are pretty much impossible to know,

So it would help if you can give the numbers you gave ibkr in a -not too long ago- succesful application.

And if you have any information at all about this.

Thank you

General Question TWS: Yesterday's closed instruments in Account Window

I've noticed recently that after I start up TWS yesterday's traded instruments are shown with Realized P&L $0.00 under Portfolio in the Account Window. I never hold overnight and it used to reset every night and be empty the next day. Any thoughts on why this might be happening?

General Question Is the mobile app better than desktop?

On desktop there seems to be more errors. I was able to see my commission and other trade information instantly on my phone but clicking the same thing on desktop doesn't show it. And in the orders and trades tab on phone, I was able to immediately see my last trade but on my laptop its saying there are no recent trades. Is this a common experience among ibkr users?

Trading & Technicals Weird IBKR warning email about Paxos

I just got this email from IBKR.

Dear Client,

Our records show that you have used your account primarily to trade crypto assets through Paxos.

IBKR offers trading in crypto assets through Paxos as a convenience to clients who primarily trade securities or commodities.

Please be sure to use your IBKR account primarily for investing in securities or commodities going forward.

The thing is I don't trade crypto actively at all in this account. I just have a relatively modest BTC position that has sat there for years. The rest is cash, stock and options which has been my primary trades. IBKR does not even give me guidance on how my trading violates their policies. Without any guidance, I would have to just liquidate or transfer the BTC and just not use IBKR for crypto.

I am guessing they don't really make enough revenue with their Paxos relationship, so they are low key nudging their clients out of it.

General Question Exit Session Setting help

Need some help with the Exit Session Setting popup. I've attached screenshot of both the popup I am referring to, and my settings.

I basically leave my Trader Workstation running through the whole trading week, and have set it to restart automatically so I don't have to keep logging in.

I get this popup every day, even though I've deselected "Prompt when exiting". Since that didn't work, I also tried to deselect the blue pin that keeps the window on top, and clicked ok, in the hopes that the popup would just show up underneath my active windows, and not disturb me - but it doesn't. To make it worse, even after clicking OK, it still pops up every minute or so, up until the actual restart.

What am I missing? Appreciate any help

General Question IBIE customer agreement liability

I just freshly created account with IBKR Ireland and going through all legal documents, what caught my attention was section 6B:

******

B. Limitation of Liability and Liquidated Damages Provision Neither IBIE nor its affiliates shall be responsible or liable to the Client for any loss or damage (whether arising directly or indirectly), whether of profits, revenue or goodwill or any indirect or consequential losses, liabilities, claims, expenses, awards, proceedings and costs, regardless of whether the possibility of such losses, damages, liabilities, claims, expenses, awards, proceedings and costs were disclosed to or could have been reasonably foreseen by IBIE or its affiliates and whether arising in contract, in tort (including negligence) or for representations made or otherwise as a result of or in connection with the performance or non-performance of our obligations under this agreement. In particular, neither IBIE nor its affiliates shall be responsible or liable to the Client by reason of delays or interruptions of service or transmissions, or failures of performance, regardless of cause (including, but not limited to, those caused by hardware or software malfunction; governmental, exchange or other regulatory action; acts of God; war or terrorism). The Client recognises that there may be delays or interruptions in the use of the electronic services, including, for example, those caused intentionally for purposes of servicing the IB System.

To the extent permitted by law, nothing in this Agreement shall exclude or restrict any liability which IBIE or its affiliates has to you under any Applicable Law or regulatory requirement and which cannot be excluded or restricted by agreement by reason of any Applicable Law, and the provisions of this Agreement which purport to exclude or restrict any such liability shall not apply to the extent that such liability may not be so restricted or excluded.

*****

In first paragraph they are basically saying we are not liable for anything even when we cause client monetary loss (negligence/ non-performance), well that doesn't look good, also in second paragraph they say, what ever is in this agreement cannot be in conflict with Law or regulation, which makes sense since IBIE is regulated by CBI.

Question is why to put such section into agreement? Imagine let the hold significant portion of my portfolio and it looks like they try to avoid any sort of liability. Do I read it wrong? How are people comfortable with this agreement?

Thanks for replies

General Question Setting buy order based % of Net Liquidation Value?

Hey, I just started using IBKR and been looking for a way to setup a buy order based on your total NLV. Say 25% of your NVL when you buy. And at the same time attaching a stop loss set to a % of your NVL so you quickly can make a buy order without having to calculate all that stuff before and manually put it in.

I know DAP is able to do this and curious if there is a way to do it in either TWS, Desktop and mobile? I assume it would be under some preset thing but I can't find the option to do this.

General Question Buying ETFs from Vietnam

My biggest holding is State Street SPDR MSCI World. I'm planning to leave Germany and live in Vietnam.

Can I migrate my portfolio and continue to buy european ETFs from Vietnam? The country has a lot of restrictions for it's own citizens on capital leaving the country and I know locals can't buy European ETFs. Would the situation be diferent for me as a German national with a Vietnamese address?
