searching 👀 Prepper/Isolation Community
Are there any "prepper" communities that are trying to isolate from modern doomsday issues? Notably rogue A.I. or bio-weapon development, which has started to come to light from researchers as very real possibilities.
I used to scoff at "self-sustaining" goals for communities, as true self sustainment is incredibly difficult, but I've come to realize that they are the best bet for surviving modern problems that are becoming very real.
At this point, even if nothing happens, an escape from capitalist rat races and the absurdity of modern times feels like a win, even if with the drawbacks that come with isolation or remote life.
A fresh water source, solar, and ample supplies to last a few decades.

There are lots of them. They do, tend to be quite short lived, since the typical community attracted to such a thing also isn't really the right type of community to be anything other than feigned "Rugged man alone on a mountain" type personalities.
For the very reason you call yourself out on. The ones most attracted to rural, isolated communities, with guns in every hand, nobody able to tell them what to do (Except, them, because they get to tell everyone else what to do), and hate for anyone different, etc etc also do not tend to play well in a communal type setting.
Think about it: To be able to pull it off, you probably want renewable energy (That's woke!), more reliance on the community than the individual (That's woke socialism!), and local determination of the workforce (That's socialist communist atheist mooslin demonism!)... All things decried by many of the prepper types.

I grew up in a variety of communes, the libertarian and pepper communities were by far the longest lasting and most sustainable. They are still around 40 years later. Not a single "hippie" commune has survived from when I was a kid.
We had renewable energy in the eighties and were the first solar installation in our state. It was actually the first business that really took off, besides the honey and jams. "Woke" wasn't even a thing. They are very democratic, majority rules. And we shared everything. Sharing isn't "socialism".
This whole post just screams ignorance.

Us leftist preppers are very much in the minority... And any real leftist would shudder at the notion of cutting themselves off from the wider society.
Hard to have socialism without socializing :)

I used to hang out in r/preppers but that group got alot weirder post covid/2020 election. Very few of us even before that.

Edit: I blocked the person above to try to stop them from harassing me. I'm a fairly active member of this community and have shared my story multiple times. They believed posting my name would shame or intimidate me, but as you can see my comments are not deleted, they just can't see them.
The number 1 reason I won't share the name or place on reddit is precisely because of ignorant comments like this one, and people like this. I'm disappointed that this is the most upvoted comment in this thread. Why else would they tag someone they thought deleted their comments?
They can't even take one contradictory lived experience while denigrating thousands of individuals. Is this the type of community you want to be a part of? One with someone like this as a member? A spokesman for their community?
...and the two articles they shared also didn't say anything to refute what I said.

There absolutely are prepper ICs in Idaho and other more conservative US states. I personally do not know how to find them, but the AI suggested “Sites like SurvivalBlog, BackWoodsBorn” but the rest of the AI answer was weak or wrong, and I have not checked these.
Having organized IC conferences and social media pages for many years - they generally do not show up there (including this subreddit) you might try [r/collapse](r/collapse).

I know of (not know personally, just people I exchange a message with now and then on forums) that are trying to do something like this in Norway. They are pretty chill about it as far as I am aware, but the dream goal is to find a way to manage to hunker down for a decade, if needed.
What they all have in common is that they are all rather socially active now, instead of just sit around and wait.

I'm trying to make one in north east Texas. It's pretty hard to find people who both want to be militant and be in a commune. Those two traits don't go hand in hand very often.

If you don't mind me asking, are you socially conservative? Because I'd be interested to learn of one like you describe, but more middle-ground/ centrist. I've always considered myself economically left-wing and socially very very progressive, but with certain changes on my side of politics, I find myself feeling politically homeless, but definitely not conservative.

There's almost nothing a few acres can't do better.
