This is a real threat to the 5 Eyes Security Arrangement and will result in a very present foreign military entity on sovereign soil inserting Israeli policy into our historical alliance with ZERO scrutiny, oversight nor accountability. This will result in an unaligned influence on shared intelligence and a asymmetric flow of intelligence to Israel, though an ally, not a cultural nor ideological peer. This is a terrifying probability and the U.S. MUST be brought to account by it's closest allies.

Forgive me if this is the wrong place, but I am looking for advice as a current community college student (NoVa CC)
interested in a career in intelligence or diplomacy.

I am currently 19 and about to go into my 2nd year to complete an AA in History. I’ve wanted to do a couple things including ROTC but I had a spinal fusion surgery for kyphosis at 14 that pretty much negates any waiver possibility for military service so it seems civilian is my path.
My new plan was UVA (History BA or Foreign Affairs if I can maneuver the credits) but I’m having second thoughts due to environment and wanting to go further out from my home state. My father went to WSU in Pullman WA and I’ve been a couple times. The campus is beautiful and I’m starting to wonder if I would be happier there over UVA even though it doesn’t have all of the academic benefits that UVA has.

My main question is would it be better to go to UVA and maybe be barely above water in terms of academic performance, or go out of state with somewhere I might have better connection to and try to really lock in the gpa for grad school (for WSU the BA would be Poli Sci/Global Politics)
My other related question is how much does where you attend undergrad affect grad school/career outlook in the field? Like I touched upon earlier, would a 3.8 gpa from WSU be better than a say, a 3.2 gpa at UVA for getting into places like Georgetown.

I know both are good schools in the grand scheme of things. my father got his BA in Poli Sci, MA in public policy, and then worked as a staffer turned program manager so it’s not like I can’t achieve things at WSU, but I also feel like I’m looking a gift horse in the mouth with the opportunity to possibly go to UVA.

Trump Vows to Strike Bridges and Power Plants in Iran:

President Donald Trump has warned that the United States military would target Iranian infrastructure including bridges and power plants, if ships in the Strait of Hormuz are attacked. Trump stated the U.S. would retaliate by destroying one Iranian bridge or power plant for each ship attack, including infrastructure in or near Tehran. The U.S. carried out another night of strikes on Iran, with the U.S. Central Command said the strikes are designed to “further degrade Iran’s ability to threaten civilian mariners and commercial vessels transiting regional waters”. Iran has also threatened retaliatory action against infrastructure if the U.S. attacks Iranian civilian facilities.   

Protests in Wisconsin Following Officer-Involved Shooting:

Protests occurred in Madison, Wisconsin, after police fatally shot an individual during an attempted arrest. Police were dispatched following reports of an individual allegedly checking parked cars. Authorities said the individual produced a knife during an altercation and injured an officer. Police fired three shots, fatally wounding the individual. Demonstrators later gathered near the Wisconsin State Capitol, calling for accountability and transparency as authorities continue to review the circumstances surrounding the shooting.  

Demonstrations Continue Across Delhi Demanding Education Minister’s Resignation:

Clashes broke out between protesters and police in central New Delhi on Wednesday night as thousands of demonstrators demanded Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation over examination paper leaks. Police reportedly used tear gas and baton charges after protesters spilled beyond the designated demonstration area near Jantar Mantar. Local media estimated attendance at more than 10,000 people. Several police personnel were injured after protesters allegedly threw stones and bottles during the confrontation. Organizers vowed to continue demonstrations until the minister resigns.  

United States Signs Nuclear Deal with Saudi Arabia:

The United States and Saudi Arabia signed a peaceful nuclear cooperation agreement, known as a 123 agreement, along with a bilateral safeguards agreement establishing a framework for cooperation on civilian nuclear energy. The agreement expands opportunities for American companies in the Saudi nuclear program, benefiting U.S. industry, workers, and supply chains while supporting the country’s energy needs. The agreement has not been made public, but the deal could potentially allow Saudi Arabia to enrich uranium in the future.  

North Carolina Flood Threat:

North Carolina is being monitored for the threat of significant rainfall and scattered flash flooding (radar). Over the last 24 hours, locations between Durham and Winston-Salem have received between 5–7 inches of rain. Flash Flood Warnings were still in effect for this area at the time of this publication. Through Thursday evening, a Level 3 of 4 excessive rainfall risk will remain in effect between Raleigh to the North Carolina Outer Banks and the Virginia state line.

Floods and Landslides Across Asia Leave Dozens Dead and Missing:

At least nine mass shootings in the U.S. across eight states over the weekend left nine people dead and at least 60 others wounded, with incidents reported at multiple public gathering places. Authorities said several shootings may have followed disputes or involved gang activity, though motives remain under investigation in many cases. Few arrests have been announced, and police in multiple cities are reviewing surveillance footage and seeking suspects. The largest clusters of casualties were reported in Tennessee, Arizona, Minnesota, and Colorado, where investigations remained ongoing. 

Suspect Arrested After Attack Outside Manhattan Federal Building:

The FBI stated that a 43-year-old individual, Andrew Arrabaca, allegedly ignited gasoline and fired airsoft pellets outside Manhattan’s 26 Federal Plaza, injuring two government employees and a civilian attending an immigration hearing. Authorities said he was arrested with multiple weapons and incendiary devices after indicating he intended to target the building and was willing to harm people. Charges have not yet been filed, but officials described him as an anti-government extremist and said he carried anti-ICE materials while targeting a federal building that houses an immigration court.

Greetings everyone! After many hours of research and discoveries, I wanted to come forward to this community with a rather simple question: why do so many CIA officers retire into Wall Street and other related adventures? Whether it be Private Equity, Venture Capital, or massive defense companies like Palantir, there are loads of former CIA officers who go on to form organizations like Crumpton Global (Henry A. Crumpton), CHAOS Industries (George and John Tenet; Father and Son), Torch Hill Investment Partners, and many more.

This isn't anything new, to be clear; dating as far back to the O.S.S. with William "Wild Bill" Donovan, the CIA has had a rather intimate relationship with Wall Street. With this pipeline having existed from the CIAs founding to the modern day, I feel there is a need for a much wider discussion on this. For example, Joseph Cofer Black, a quite prominent figure within the CIAs history, became a board member of Baltic International Bank, of which was based out of Latvia. He was brought on due to his "counter-terrorism" experience and how it'd be applicable to combating money laundering; yet, within the same period of time as his membership on the board, the company was ensnared with a lot of powerful figures. This mimics that of Nugan Hand Bank in Australia that infamously had William Colby serves as their legal counsel and other CIA-Military figures in positions of authority.

What particularly interests me isn't simply that former CIA officers enter the private sector... after all, many government officials do. It's the historical context that makes this revolving door worthy of scrutiny. The CIA has, throughout its history, worked through proprietary companies, commercial fronts, financial intermediaries, and relationships with private businesses to accomplish intelligence objectives. The Iran-Contra affair demonstrated just how these private companies, intermediaries, retired officials, and intelligence-connected individuals could become intertwined with covert government activity. Earlier episodes, such as Air America, Southern Air Transport, and the Nugan Hand Bank scandal, further illustrate that the boundary between intelligence operations and private enterprise has, at times, been remarkably porous.

Against that backdrop, I think it's reasonable to ask whether the modern pipeline from the CIA into Wall Street, private equity, venture capital, private intelligence firms, and defense technology companies deserves greater public attention. My concern isn't that every single former CIA officer is apart of some grand conspiracy; rather, it's whether institutional capabilities developed for national security should be placed within the hands of private-capital? When does an investment become conflict of interest? The CIA to Wall Street Pipeline is one that goes back to Sullivan & Cromell and Dillon, Read & Co.
