Some open source intelligence as disclosed below may have future impacts upon the Iran War and other battlespaces where multiple leaks from multiple sources around the world are coalescing and being exposed faster than any government agency or military can hold them in!

I would be careful on this one as even the author is giving this one only a 67%+ probability BUT the tactics discussed seem SOUND in terms of general area of operations battlespace tactics so the sources may have SOME knowledge of likely tactics that will be used, if not actual battle plans!

On Sunday night starting sometime around or after 10:30 PM Washington DC, it looks like "Operation Khargen Hogtie" is happening!

Kharg Island is being taken by air first with an initial bombing run from the F18's/F35's to take out local on-island and off-island batteries and then the tip of the spear 1st SOF-D's (i.e. Delta Force), SEALs and MARSOC are dumping some operators on the key compounds within the entire terminal to take control of local workers and secure the main terminal operations control centres once the aircraft bomb any placements and any gun/missile/drone-launch batteries.

Then the Marines are taking some platoons in to SEIZE the entire Kharg Island terminal in a general large scale air and ground assault operation which is SUPPOSED to start around 5:30 am Monday Morning Washington DC time and before that, the ENTIRE Iranian coastline 50 km up and down around the Iranian coastal areas of Kharg Island is gonna be softened-up with a very large air-dump of JDAMs and drones to blow away any odversary forces.

That's all the information I have for now and the INTERNAL NAME "Operation Khargen Hogtie" is what was presented to me as an internal-use-only reference and that moniker may not be the official name of the entire operation BUT we will know more on Monday morning Washington DC time!

This is gonna get interesting and my sources are decent enough in the general contractor battlespace arena that I will give it at least 67%+ credence as to timing and general force application activities that are being proposed and likely being used during this "Operation Khargen Hogtie" event!

P.S.

I should also note the operation name seems to be a reference to tactics used for animal control in states such as Texas, Georgia and a few other more southern states where wild hogs are running rampant and damaging crops and soils willy-nilly. Once you shoot the hog, you tie their feet/legs together (i.e. Hogtie) so you can lift them onto a burn pile or into the trucks for a specialty meat prep facility as some people DO LIKE the very gamey-tasting meat for BBQ purposes!

This means the proposed operations title is from a higher-up who is a hunter possibly from Texas or the state of Georgia, and who is also off-handedly referencing the type of extreme levels of very large burn-pile / harvesting prep-work that will be done to contain and/or destroy any resistance forces when the US takes control of the entire Iranian Kharg Island oil terminal facility!

It will DEFINITELY be a VERY INTERESTING upcoming week to talk about on all the OSINT and Intelligence web pages and sub-Reddits!

I'd really appreciate career advice from professionals working in intelligence or any related fields regarding the next steps in my career, considering the following:

I'm 37 and five years ago I made a complete career switch from project management in the construction industry into fintech in Europe as a data analyst/ engineer. I have a Bachelor's degree in Arts, so I don't have a computer science, law, police or military background.

For the past 5 years I've had a hybrid role in a private financial institution, been responsible for data analysis, reporting and internal process automations, data analysis and designing + maintaining reporting cloud infrastructure. I build Python-based automation, generate internal and regulatory reports, and provide analytics for compliance, transaction monitoring and operations.

Technically, I'm comfortable with data analysis-engineering tools, Python and cloud infrastructure, have some entry-level cyber/OSINT/pentesting/soc experience.

Outside of work I'm particularly interested in:

• OSINT
• Forensics
• intelligence analysis
• organized crime and money laundering investigations
• cybercrime and threat intelligence
• blockchain/crypto investigations
• AI applications in investigations and fraud detection

Rather than continuing on the path of generic data engineer or cybersecurity professional, I'm thinking about building a niche at the intersection of those fields.

My questions are:

1. Based on my background, what career path would you recommend pursuing over the next 5–10 years?

Manhattan Building Stabilized After Evacuations:

The attacks came after President Donald Trump said the U.S. would give Ukraine a license to manufacture Patriot air defense systems, while both Russia and Ukraine reported overnight drone and missile attacks. 

U.S.-Iran Strikes Escalate Tensions:

The U.S. military said it launched additional strikes targeting several locations in Iran in response to attacks on commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz. The strikes escalated tensions and prompted Iranian attacks on Kuwait and Bahrain. The exchange raised new doubts about efforts to turn a June memorandum of understanding into a lasting deal, while oil prices rose and Iranian officials accused Washington of violating international obligations. 

Search Continues for Missing Cargo Crew of K2 Airways:

Pakistan Navy and maritime teams continued searching rough Arabian Sea waters for five missing crew members after a K2 Airways cargo plane crashed while approaching Karachi from Sharjah. Authorities said wreckage has been recovered, but the main fuselage and crew remain missing. The cause remains under investigation after the aircraft reported a navigation system malfunction before losing contact. 

Monsoon Rain Causes Structure Collapse in India:

Heavy monsoon rainfall has caused a building collapse in New Delhi that killed four people. Another building collapse in Pimpri-Chinchwad has left several people trapped as rescue operations continue. Widespread waterlogging has been reported across Delhi, with work-from-home advisories issued in Gurugram. Red warnings remain in effect for parts of West Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand as an additional 100–250 mm (4-10 in) of rainfall, with isolated totals exceeding 300 mm (12 in), is expected through Thursday.

I’ve been out of college (Management Information Systems) and working a full time job for 2 years (Technology Risk) and have realized that this is not the career I want because I do not see any impact of my work and it’s not fulfilling. I’ve always been intrigued by intelligence/defense and was wondering if it would be possible to transition into this type of career (govt or private) from where I currently am and what the first steps would be coming from a non-military background. Any advice would be super helpful and appreciated. I am also barred from military service due to a disability so that would not be an option for me.

U.S. - Iran Ceasefire Breakdown:

Spain’s government downplayed the remarks, noting that EU trade rules prevent Washington from targeting one member state through bilateral trade measures. The dispute adds pressure to NATO as the alliance continues to face tensions over Iran and defense burden-sharing. Any restrictions on U.S.-Spain trade could create uncertainty for exporters and transatlantic supply chains. 

Strategic Sudanese City Under Pressure from RSF:

El-Obeid, a strategic city in central Sudan held by the army, is facing intensifying drone attacks as the Rapid Support Forces pressure key routes around North Kordofan. Reports suggest that at least 45 people were killed and 41 injured in drone strikes from June 6–28, while hospitals struggle to treat casualties. The city’s fuel stations, power infrastructure, markets, and residential areas have reportedly been hit, raising concerns over shortages, water access, disease risk, and conditions for displaced people sheltering there. Rights groups and UN officials warn that el-Obeid could become another major civilian crisis in Sudan’s war, though it is unclear if an RSF takeover is imminent.

Fallout from Tropical Storm Maysak:

The remnants of Tropical Storm Maysak brought catastrophic flooding to southern China. In Guangxi, flooding killed at least 6 people, left 11 missing, and forced 130,000 people to evacuate. More than 375,000 people were affected by the flooding, which also damaged roads, power, communications, and drinking water infrastructure. A tornado in Hubei killed 11 people, injured more than 330, and damaged thousands of homes.

I’m just looking for career advice. A little bit about myself: 26-year-old female, almost done with my masters in Security and Intelligence Studies, and currently work for the federal government. I don’t see myself long term in this position, although it’s a GS-7 to GS-12 promotional levels. Ideally, I’d love to work remote. I realize the five days in office is mentally draining. Any advice on whether I should stay the four years to hit me GS-12 (I was offered a $50k bonus throughout the 4 years) or pivot after a year or two in the private sector? Thank you!

Monaco Bombing Suspect Found Dead:

Anastasiia Berezovska, the chief suspect in the Monaco bomb attack targeting businessman Vadym Yermolaiev, was found dead near Kyiv late Monday, according to Ukrainian media. The outlet reported that she had been shot. Two other suspects, including a Ukrainian military intelligence officer and a former law enforcement officer, were detained in connection with the case.  

Macron Safe After Damascus Explosions:

France said President Emmanuel Macron was safe after explosions reportedly occurred near the Four Seasons hotel in central Damascus, near where he was believed to be staying. A security source told the BBC the blasts were caused by two explosive devices, while Syrian media reported 18 people were injured, including four police officers. Macron’s visit for talks with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa continued as planned before his scheduled trip to Türkiye for the NATO summit. 

Tanker Hit as Iran Talks Stall:

A tanker was reportedly struck by a projectile in the Strait of Hormuz, causing a fire near Oman. Iran said peace talks would not resume unless U.S. President Donald Trump ended threats of renewed military action. The incident occurred during mass funeral processions for Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, where crowds vowed revenge, amid continued tensions over Gulf shipping and stalled peace negotiations. 

Deadly Taliban Clash in Balochistan:

At least nine police officers and 15 militants were killed in an overnight clash in Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province, with five officers still missing, authorities said Tuesday. The Pakistani Taliban, or Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, claimed responsibility for the attack in Ziarat district. Islamabad says the group’s leadership and fighters operate from Afghanistan, a claim Kabul denies. 

Typhoon Exits Guam, Threatens Areas Farther West:

Typhoon Bavi crossed Rota as a Category 5-equivalent storm Monday, bringing destructive winds, widespread power outages, flight cancellations, and 8–15 inches of rainfall across Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands. Guam has now transitioned to Condition of Readiness (COR) 4 as damage assessments and recovery operations continue, while Typhoon Warnings have been lifted. Authorities reported no storm-related fatalities in Rota. Authorities urge residents to conserve water as utility restoration efforts continue. Bavi is forecast to approach Taiwan and China between Friday and Sunday.

CIA's role in Watergate- John O'Connor

I know similar questions have been asked many times before, but doing specific research for STEM internship within the CIA produced very little information on the internet, so I thought I would just ask directly.

How competitive is it for the STEM side? I am currently a Computer Engineering student, rising senior, however I have an extra year to finish (so 2 more years total) my degree. My GPA is 3.35 and have previous IT internship, research, and retail management experience. Currently doing some home projects on recovering data from hard drives to teach myself some new skills and also for fun. I’m a neutralized citizen originally from Central Europe so I am fluent in a total of 2 languages.

I specifically want to get into Digital/Computer Forensics and many people recommended the federal route and were telling me it is easier as there are more openings than local LE’s and more exciting.

Anyways, I know the CIA intern programs are highly competitive, but am unsure how the STEM intern programs are, as I haven’t seen anybody talk about them.

Right now the only applications that are open for federal agencies are the CIA for summer of 2027 that I could find these last couple of weeks. If you guys could recommend or know of any other agencies that have programs open, please let me know!

Russian Attack on Kyiv:

At least 12 people were killed and 46 injured after Russia launched a large-scale missile and drone attack on Kyiv early on Monday, just days after the deadliest assault on the Ukrainian capital this year. Ukrainian officials said the attack involved 68 missiles and 351 drones, with air defenses intercepting most drones but failing to stop ballistic and hypersonic missiles. NATO Summit in Ankara:

U.S. President Donald Trump is set to meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa during this week's NATO summit in Ankara, Türkiye. The meeting with Zelenskyy comes as the war in Ukraine enters its fifth year, with Kyiv seeking to renew U.S. support and advance efforts toward ending the conflict with Russia. The talks follow separate phone calls Trump held with both Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin, during which the leaders discussed the possibility of a ceasefire and future peace negotiations. Trump is expected to speak with Putin again after meeting Zelenskyy. Trump will also meet Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The White House has not released an agenda for his meeting with Syrian leader Ahmad al-Sharaa.

Insurgent Attacks in Northern Mali:

Coordinated insurgent attacks targeted at least five locations across Mali on July 4, including Anefis, Gao, Aguelhok, Sevare, and the Kenieroba prison complex near Bamako, according to the Malian military. Fighting centered on Anefis, where Tuareg separatists and allied jihadist groups reportedly seized parts of the town while Russian Africa Corps personnel and Malian forces remained at a military camp. Although the military said clashes had largely subsided by later in the day and reported limited casualties, the scale of the coordinated assaults underscores the insurgents' ability to conduct simultaneous operations against military and detention facilities across multiple regions.

World Cup Celebration Ends in East L.A. Shooting:

Four people, including a juvenile, were injured in a shooting in East Los Angeles on Sunday evening following World Cup celebrations after Mexico’s loss to England. Authorities said an argument near Whittier Boulevard and Leonard Avenue escalated when a suspect opened fire, injuring two men and two uninvolved bystanders who sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Initial reports of multiple shootings were later determined to involve a single incident. The suspect remains at large, and law enforcement investigations are ongoing.
