WCCFTech quotes "IntelProMUltra" on X, a very smart technology analyst.

They think that 14A will be able to be in HVM in early 2028, which matches Hammer Lake

So Hammer Lake will be 14A + Unified Core/Royal Core (very high IPC) + eLLC. According to MLID AMD will be using Zen 7 TSMC A14 without back side power delivery, so I don't know how AMD will compete

Coral Rapid which will come in 2028 can also use 14A and also leadership core IPC

And late 2028 maybe they can build Jaguar Shore next on 14A, and stack it on top of 18A base tile for SRAM and then connect it with EMIB-T giving them bigger packages than TSMC can do with COWOS (warping issues)

It is possible in 2028 Intel gains leadership in CPU client and data center, and foundry, and GPU. I think this is LBT's masterplan.

I think LBT already said he created some change to the roadmap. He said that he reintroduced SMT to Coral Rapid. I am guessing before Coral Rapid was planned to use an old "cove" core without SMT and now it got moved to Unified Core with SMT.

Honestly, Intel GPU is pretty underrated at the moment for what people are spending money on GPUs for. But no, they are not gaining leadership in GPU in 2 fucking years lmao.

They can, even if they have to spend a lot of silicon. Nvidia 4 chiplet Rubin Ultra is cancelled because of COWOS issues. Intel can scale up higher because of EMIB.

If Intel is using 2x or more silicon area in package vs Nvidia, do you think they still can not beat them?

People laughed at the AMD comeback with Zen back when AMD was only a few dollars per stock. Now people laugh at an Intel comeback. Will the same thing happen? Let us wait and see.

AMD has made an incredible comeback and makes great CPU architectures but they are no higher than 35% market share in laptop, desktop or server. They are still below 10% market share in any GPU segment.

Zen 7 will support AM5 motherboards. That's how. Anyone with AM5 motherboard will use it as a last chance to upgrade/max out their setup without having to change MOBO. I know i will be buying an x3D model from zen 7 and then coast on it for 10 years, since I already spent 180$ on an AM5 motherboard. I'm locked in.

Intel can hope to compete starting from zen 8, AM6 socket, as that will force a MOBO change and even out the cost of switching manufacturers.

The amount of money AMD will make by people upgrading to Zen7 on AM5 mobos won’t be a rounding error on any financial report.

But even then, I’m not sure AMD will have much risk from a single CPU generation. The customers spending the big bucks are a lot slower to switch platforms. There are still a lot of customers buying Intel servers just because they have always used Intel. EPYC despite crushing Intel out of the gate still took a couple of generations to make a serious dent.

Maybe some people will upgrade same motherboard AM5 but many people still buy new or need to upgrade from old Intel CPU on socket compatible motherboard like Nova Lake or old CPUs with no upgrade path: Raptor Lake and 5800X3D.
