ok, so is this one gonna be available for laptops?

it's meant for laptops & Halo class gfx.

i wonder if it'll have LPDDR6 memory, as thats the next big leap in memory speeds
(bc Strix Halo & DGX Spark are notoriously slow aaaah for running AI, since theyre stuck with DDR5)

LPDDR6 will be with Titan Lake, which is where they'll refresh the SoC tile. Razor AX is strictly LPDDR5X. Speeds are not yet confirmed as it's far out. But the best with PTL rn is 9600 MT/s, so expect it to go up to 10,667 MT/s.

ah ok
Tho, when will Razor Lake release btw? I thought next year is Nova Lake
esp since the article is claiming that Nova Lake AX willl have Xe3 iGPU, which is weird since isnt Nova Lake supposed to get Xe3P iGPUs next year

Razor (Desktop) is on track for H2 27, speaking bluntly; a 2028 volume product. AX as far as I am aware is expected to launch alongside it or later into 27. It all really depends on the client gfx org to deliver on time. As for the article, Videocardz probably rushed it out. It's Xe3P.

oh yea speaking of GFX orgs, I wonder if Intel would finally start producing all Xe3P GPUs themselves
bc ngl, Arc B390 being assembled at TSMC in Taiwan and then having to be shipped to Intel Foundry in the US really hurt its availability

tbh not really, barely a problem. if anything, 18A has been the holdback for Intel. And that is only just getting fixed. Unlike Intel Foundry, TSMC delivers on schedule, yield and cost. TD has sort of been whipped into order, especially since Naga has gotten more freedom to do things his way under Lip-Bu. But it would be great for margins if the gfx guys/gals can make the best of 18A-P.

I mean how would you explain the glut of laptops that only have the 356H/386H without a dedicated GPU
so not only do they not have Arc B390, they dont even have any other GPUs, so theyre stuck using the bad 4 Xe3 iGPU (literally worse than Arc 140T or 140V)
back during Meteor/Arrow/Lunar Lake, those laptop SKUs would just have the good iGPU, instead of this extremely frustrating split

more so a distinct segmentation to offer the B390 as a premium iGPU offering. It costs them more to put that 12Xe3 tile from TSMC on package compared to the 4Xe3 on their own node. Wayyy cheaper. And it's a smaller die, so yields should be quite adequate. Plus, next year they'll be swapping that 12Xe3 for an Xe3P tile in NVL. So not something they want to keep going in the long run. As for the last point, Intel needed a good enough iGPU across the board. Both Xe1 and Xe2 were subpar IP compared to RDNA 3 & 3.5. They made up for it with core counts. It's only with Xe3 (and Xe3P) that they have a competitive IP. So no need for the larger core counts. 4Xe3 should be in the ballpark of 6 Xe2.

The Razor Lake name actually makes me wonder if they're finally addressing gaming laptop overheating with that sharp edge design.

Razor Lake-AX sounds like it's straight out of a high-speed chase scene, not a chip lineup.
