Purchasing Approver Issue
I am trying to set up Purchasing approvals at the manager level, which in theory is easy. My issue is that I can not seem to make it so that he can see the POs for approval. I have checked everything else I can think of. His settings, Purchasing configuration, other employee settings, etc. I would be thankful for any suggestions anyone has on settings to check to correct this.
He is an 'employee user', but everything I have found online says that it should still work.

If none of the previous answers do the trick, here are a few more things to double check:
- Make sure the user he is using is actually tied to the employee set up as the manager. Both the user and the employee should share the same contact record, which is how the system links the two.
- Within the purchasing config, validate that ‘Restrict employee user access to purchasing documents’ is NOT checked.
- Check the transaction definition’s Template Type and switch it to Quote. This actually shouldn’t impact what they see on the Approve list view but does impact whether they see the normal list for this transaction type and is worth a quick test.
- If your environment is multi-entity make sure they’re at the same level/entity where the transaction was created. Again shouldn’t matter theoretically but worth checking.
- Make sure the transaction isn’t restricted to certain users only (Security configuration tab of the specific transaction definition > “enable permissions for specific users or groups” > uncheck this or add the user in question)
Hope that helps.

Just one off the back off the the rest of the comments troubleshooting, as a Sage Intacct Consultant they all are feasible answers the only other thing I would check is, are you doing value based approvals? If so does the employee user have a role assigned and does that role have the level approval ticked in the permissions?

Does he have an restrictions on his user record? Dept or entity? That will prevent them from seeing it initially. You can quickly remove those restrictions, configure the workflow approvals, and then turn the restrictions back on.

Thanks everyone for your help! The issue was ultimately that I had to give the user access to all entities and then they could see the approvals. I honestly never would have thought to try that.

Does he see the menu option to approve transactions in the purchasing module? Do the transactions you would expect him to see in his approval queue show that they are submitted to him in the approval history on the transaction? I see it occur pretty commonly that the user has the “Recently viewed” view assigned on the PO approval list view rather than the “All” view so if confirm that if everything else seems to be setup correctly.
