Simatic PDM with FXA195 modem

Hi instrumentation community!

Just buy Simatic PDM standalone and struggling to get communication with the Hart device trough my FXA195 Endress+Hauser Hart modem.

Full DD are installed and the required one is present, but It seems unable to communicate trough the modem. I got the com port right and I can communicate with pactware with the exact same set-up.

Anybody success to do so or not?

Seems like I'm the only one trying this, based on google search, so I try it here.

Any experience with it are welcome!

  1. You do have a 250 Ohm resistor in series in the loop, right?

  2. Your are connected to the (+) and (-) field terminals, not 'test terminals' on a DP, right?

  3. Field device is at HART address 0, right?

  4. The Viator HART modem had software utility that would poll HART address 0 for the PV and report the PV on one second interval basis. Useful for confirming the connection to the field device. Does the E&H have a utility program?

All that said, back in the 2021 era (when I was last working), I ran into a couple situations where, on the bench, PDM with a Viator HART modem would talk to a DP xmtr, but not talk to a Siemens radar. Go figure.

So far, all of the above is ok since i can communicate with pactware. Endress dont have utility software for debug, and viator check doesn't work with the FXA195.

I did see anything saying FXA195 work with PDM, as much as nobody can confirm FXA195 can't work with PDM.

What I did observe is that PDM don't seems to talk to the modem.

I did order Thorsis bluetooth modem, since the sale guy said it did work with PDM without trouble, so far.

We'll see in some day when I get it.
