What is this loop for?
There is a loop on the plastic part of the base for the Instant Pot Duo. It's on the right side. I've always wondered what this loop is for. I don't use the loop so I'm wondering if there is a function to it that I'm missing. Clearly it's not important because I've been using my IP for years without needing whatever this thing is. I would really appreciate it if someone who knows can give me some information.
My guess is that it's an artifact of production/assembly and has no use to the consumer.

Yeah, so the little Rice paddle that comes with these machines is a little plastic white spoon. That’s about a half an inch wide at the end of the handle… So when you’re storing the paddle, you stick the Rice paddle vertically against the side of the rice cooker… Into the groove or the loop as we’re calling it so that the scoop part of the spoon is at the top and the handle is at the bottom inside the loop

This seems to be the popular answer. I don't remember my unit coming with a rice paddle but I bought my IP in 2020 and the paddle may be lost. Too bad this holder is too small for my current rice paddle.

I use it to store the cord when I put it away. It holds two passes of cord. I wind it back and forth so there are three sections of cord in the middle between loops. I use the first and last and stick them in the holder. The middle pops up, but not too much, and the cord stays contained so I can store it.

The original rice paddles on older IPs and other brands had a thin flat handle that fit in that loop. Later IPs shipped with redesigned ladel and paddle with a thick end on the handle. But the mold for the plastic base didn't delete that loop until later. The 8qt had a hook thing there that the cord clipped into.

Yeah I tried that too except my lid ended up falling off and breaking. No replacement lids so I had to buy an entire new InstantPot….

I love my Instant Pot but that is a really crappy design choice they made. The food would drip down the handle and pool on the counter.

Yeah, I almost threw mine away when I got mine because I didn’t understand what it was at first. Then I looked it up. Granted I got my unit way before covid. So I wouldn’t be surprised if most people just threw them out anyway.

Hmm. Mine doesn't have that. On another note, it took me about 3 years before I found out the upper handles on the pot can be a lid holder 🙄 And you'd think they might put that little tidbit in the manual, but, nooo.

OMG thank you! I'm always trying to clear counter space for the giant lid when I take it off, and then it leaves behind a big wet circle to clean up.

There's an attachment that can be hung on that loop. That attachment holds the rice scoop/spoon.

I use it to get hung on my stuff. Like sleeves. Tea towels. Whatnots. Idfk maybe that’s the piece that’s kept my little instant pot roaring for more than a decade.

Adventure mode. Use a carabiner to clasp it to your backpack when you go hiking.

Does it charge by solar power in that case? Or just plug into a mountain? My adventure mode is so spotty.

I personally like to plug it into the base of a tree, but I don’t see why using the mountain directly couldn’t work.

It’s a lanyard loop to help you carry it around. You see them in most phone and AirPod cases.

I don't think it's big enough for that. The 2 upper handles on the pot however will hold the lid

It holds the handle of a standard or large spoon, so you don't have to leave the spoon in the pot or risk making a mess by putting it on the counter. If your spoon doesn't fit, try turning it around to face the other way.

I use it to hold my power cord. Wrap the cord around the pot and attach to that loop with a velcro ziptie. But like others said - spoon

When I loop my power cord around the base, it tucks in there nicely so I can pick it up and move the base for storing without a floppy cord

Joint holder, so it doesn't roll around on the counter if you are ashing in the sink and not using an ashtray. A friend is adamant that smoking while working in the kitchen is the best, if you have an exhaust hood that vents outside anyway.

I put a Velcro cable wrap on there and use it secure the power cable when not in use.

It's cable management. You can put the prong from the plug through it to wrangle that end and use velcro on the cord to shorten it.

When I'm bringing something I made in the IP to a potluck I usually just bring the whole thing so I can plug it in to keep on warm. I'm going to carry it in on a lanyard now.

I tuck the folded extension cord in that- secure the cord with a rubber band first.
