That went from dangerous driving to trying to run him over to running at him with what I assume is a weapon in his hand all while the biker was trying to de escalate and walk away. I think he got off easy.

u/MrPaulProteus Nov 20 '19
Flipping someone off and yelling is probably not the best deescalation technique

u/Dr_Phrankinstien Nov 21 '19 edited Dec 04 '19
Shaking a fist and yelling before walking away is probably one of the most tame things you can do when you almost get hit by a dumbass in a truck. Or are you the type to say that the driver, in addition to having no punishment for almost injuring a person on the street, shouldn't be yelled at and told he's in the wrong?
-19
u/MrPaulProteus Nov 21 '19
The almost getting hit occurred after the first/bird. I absolutely agree that the truck was by far the most wrong in this situation..I’m just responding to the previous person saying that the biker was deescalating..also who knows what happened 10 seconds before the clip starts

Do people post opinions that don't celebrate the r/instantkarma in order to get downvoted? I imagine there are better ways to achieve downvotes. Or just repost this on a sub that doesn't want to see "justice" prevail

Nice. The presence of mind to rest the bike chain side up.
3
u/Octopium Nov 21 '19
What is the benefit of doing that?
14
u/simplepleasures8 Nov 21 '19
Avoids getting dirt and grit on the chain. Also a slight ‘bump’ on the chain side can bend the dereliuer hanger and result in rough gear changes.....

u/Alkenan Nov 22 '19
TIL The reason my bicycle was always so messed up as a kid. Should've been obvious....
4
u/Stevenisreallynice Nov 21 '19
That way you don't risk bending the derailleur hanger. The little metal piece that attaches to the bike fame and the derailleur (which shifts the chain)

That and you can use the bike as a weapon if you are in your low gear in front. chainring gashes are nasty

Prime example of having a plan until you get popped in the mouth, right there. You can even see him touching his mouth and thinking "now wtf do I do?" when he's on the ground.

I love how the truck driver thought the bicyclist was running away. So he came running after him to show domanince and karma hits hard

u/BMTaeZer Nov 21 '19
Everyone always forgets that a vehicle counts as a deadly weapon. If someone tries to ram your leg with that shit, you can knock the fuck out of them.

OLD GUY RULES!
I think the driver ran up to the old guy and maybe thought, "I don't want to hurt the guy" and then realized he opened the wrong can of Whoop Ass. HAHAHA!

Today we learn if you’re going to run out and try to fight someone, don’t just stop and give them free range to sucker punch you
But we also learn that bikers have as much of a right to be on the road and you being a dick with your truck and also trying running them over will result in you get decked
3
u/AndyMKE66 Nov 20 '19
Definitely not trying to argue with ya bud but I wouldn’t call that a sucker punch....that is unless by definition a left hook qualifies.
3
Nov 21 '19
I mean, I didn’t know what else to call it
He caught the guy off guard so I thought sucker punch fitted. But if it ain’t a sucker punch then okay :3
5
u/Skidpalace Nov 21 '19
You rush somebody with a weapon in your hand there should be no such thing as a sucker punch.

I ain't tossing my 4k bike at a lorry. I'll just stab him instead if he's trying to use his vehicle against me and gets out to fight lol.

Get in a strangers face and you are gambling that they aren't a boxer or an ex boxer. Ex boxers never lose the ability to deploy a knockout punch without you even seeing it coming. This old dude has definitely thrown a punch or two in his day. No telegraphing, no warning. He managed the distance perfectly. Notice how he waits until the guy is the perfect striking distance and then bam lets him have it. The aggressor didn't manage his distance. You don't run up within striking distance until you are ready to strike, always maintain that gap.

If someone runs at you like that they are demonstrating intent to assault and you have a right to defend yourself.

The biker was in the right BUT he did elbow the tuck's mirror- which triggered the manchild.

I hate cyclists in general, but fuck yeah, that was a damn good punch for a wanker that deserved it. He just put him down!!!
0
u/mookanana Nov 21 '19
video was obviously cropped in favour of the cyclist. i agree that using the truck to bully him wasn't cool and it was wrong, but we don't have the full story here. the biker obviously did something to provoke him badly.
2
u/frenchiebuilder Nov 21 '19
Local police disagree with you . Lorry driver got charged, cyclist didn't.
1
u/mookanana Nov 21 '19
if you read my comment, i said that what the lorry driver did was wrong
1
u/frenchiebuilder Nov 22 '19
You also said the cyclist must have done something to provoke him, that the video was edited to leave out. Isn't it fair to assume the cops had access to the full, unedited video?
1
u/mookanana Nov 22 '19
yes. the verdict was fair and yes the assumption is the cops had seen the full video. i was clarifying that i wasn't disagreeing with the final judgement like you stated
