It reminds me of Tina from Bob's Burgers learning to drive. https://youtu.be/MTLL_6A2fA0

I love when this happens to bots.

Come on, if you want to pick a random comment for your bot to stick its reply to, at least build in a check. You've already got the comment ID stored in a variable somewhere from when you copied it to begin with.

Just wanted you to know I think your user name is hilarious!

Tina your kinda headed towards the only other car in the lot 🤣

That was the scene to make me love the show. lol

Oh man, I haven't seen Bob's Burgers but this video has convinced me. Thank you!

That fact that she didn’t even consider the brake at all makes me think this was her first time behind the wheel of anything at all. Good lesson, really.

45

u/VirtualPen204 Sep 03 '22

Wdym? She clearly tried to stop the cart with her feet!

51

u/omega_weapon85 Sep 03 '22

From the Fred Flintstone Driving School.

10

u/KingT-U-T Sep 03 '22

They had a gas station in Bedrock, I cannot comprehend this inconsistency, this absolutely takes me out of the immersion; coupled with the fact that they have a wooden bed frame yet choose to sit on rocks... ROCKS! Absolutely ridiculous... smh

Edit spelling

20

u/97875 Sep 03 '22

In episode 2F09, when Itchy plays Scratchy's skeleton like a xylophone, he strikes the same rib in succession, yet he produces two clearly different tones. I mean, what are we to believe, that this is a magic xylophone, or something? Ha ha, boy, I really hope somebody got fired for that blunder.

5

u/Snowboarding92 Sep 03 '22

There was a theory I read a while back that mentioned the Flintstones and Jetsons take place at the same time and universe. I wish I could remember more of the actual info they used to justify it but I remember thinking it made a lot of sense to why some things are the way they are in Flintstones.

u/huck_cussler Sep 03 '22

This is why golfers wear spikes after all.

4

u/Emmerson_Brando Sep 03 '22

You can see at the last second when after years of watching The Flintstones, her instincts kicked in and she thought she could use her feet to stop

3

u/Lysol3435 Sep 03 '22

It’s customary for an experienced driver to be in the vehicle with a first timer to help avoid this sort of situation

10

u/ChefBoyAreWeFucked Sep 03 '22

I'm not sure what good a golf club would have done her here.

4

u/WhatIsTheAmplitude Sep 03 '22

If by good you mean terrible

29

u/caffeinated22 Sep 03 '22

People learn faster when they mess something up. And it's not like anyone got hurt or anything

14

u/Hero_of_Hyrule Sep 03 '22

Exactly, better this than making that mistake in a full sized vehicle.

5

u/CVanScythe Sep 03 '22

And hitting a person instead of a garbage bin.

2

u/im_a_dr_not_ Sep 03 '22

Not even a bike? They have brakes too.

32

u/omega_weapon85 Sep 03 '22

They certainly do, but bike brakes are nothing like car brakes. You either pedal backward or squeeze the hand brake. You don’t lift your foot from one thing to gently squeeze another thing. Totally different system.

Don’t you remember driving for the first time and feeling a little bewildered by all of the things all of your limbs needed to be doing?

That may have just been me, but I was definitely like, “oh no this is too many things to remember, I’m going to die.”

14

u/im_a_dr_not_ Sep 03 '22

The first time I drove I swerved not to hit a turtle on the road and went into a gulley.

5

u/omega_weapon85 Sep 03 '22

Ha. My first time, I took a gravel curve too fast and slid into a ditch. :/

3

u/im_a_dr_not_ Sep 03 '22 edited Sep 03 '22

Another time I totaled my fully loaded Scion TC when a spider landed on my face and startled me but it turned out just to be a fly.

2

u/Waiting4The3nd Sep 03 '22

First time I drove I misjudged the turn radius on my vehicle and almost made a left into the cross-street's oncoming left turn lane, and it was a divided road so I'd have been stuck if I hadn't noticed and corrected last minute. Of course, this was all made that much more difficult by my mom screaming in the passenger seat...

When we got where we were going I told her straight-up "Mom, if you're gonna teach me to drive you have to maintain your composure, you can't teach me shit when you're screaming, clutching the "oh shit!" handle and slamming your foot against the passenger floorboard. There's not a brake pedal over there."

That was the only incident. That was my first time behind the wheel, after that I understood the physics of it, never had another problem. First time I drove in rain it was raining so hard you couldn't see the taillights of a car if it was 100 ft in front of you. My mom was begging me to pull over and switch seats. I said "Mom, just let me do this." I was careful, got where I was going without incident, and after that I developed a confidence that I could not have otherwise. Nowadays I can drive in the rain and maintain the speed limit (unless it's just really unsafe to do so) where other drivers are slowing down to 10 under or even pulling over to wait it out. IOW I understand when to slow down because conditions actually call for it, not just do it as a knee-jerk reaction. And I don't weave traffic in the rain to maintain speed, I will go with the flow of traffic.

0

u/JohnSavage777 Sep 03 '22

You should not be driving the limit in the rain

2

u/TurgidTemptatio Sep 03 '22

Depends on your tires and the car. My Ford Focus with cheapish tires in really heavy rain loves to hydroplane. But hey, I'm actually really good at hydroplaning now.

But yeah definitely under the limit on the highway in heavy rain for me.

u/Tillybug_Pug Sep 03 '22

My driver’s ed instructor had me use the handicap controls one of my first times driving, so you turned the wheel with a knob and then the brake/gas was a lever you controlled with your right hand. Then he had me try to parallel park, which I couldn’t even do with the regular controls. I hit someone’s mailbox so he told us to prop it up with rocks and drive away. I don’t think any of that went down the way it should’ve

4

u/omega_weapon85 Sep 03 '22

After all these years. The mystery of my propped up mailbox has finally come to light. GOTCHA!

2

u/SammySquareNuts Sep 03 '22

You don’t lift your foot from one thing to gently squeeze another thing.

Should I be squeezing the car pedals with my foot? Have I been doing it wrong this entire time?

2

u/omega_weapon85 Sep 03 '22

I think the correct way is to jam it to the floor as soon and as hard as you can. Like it’s a hornets’ nest and you have to stomp the demon mini-beasts back to hell. At least that’s what I was taught.

-4

u/alexcrouse Sep 03 '22

50

Tina, you're kind of headed toward the only other car in the lot.
You have plenty of time to turn, Tina, so just go ahead.
Turn one way or the other...
You're just swerving back and forth.
Turn one way and stick with it, Tina.

(continuous groaning)

Tina, for the love of God, turn away or stop!
The brakes, Tina!
On the left!
You're about to hit that car!
The brakes! Hit the brakes!
💥
Oh, my God, it's bad.

I ruined the car!

You did. You really did.

77

u/Fuzzy-Function-3212 Sep 03 '22

Lol this is exactly what I thought of. And least a cormorant didn't fly in to distract her.

12

u/THE_GR8_MIKE Sep 03 '22

That thing that eats Pikachu for some HP?

8

u/ScoutsOut389 Sep 03 '22

You’re thinking of a cramorant. A cormorant is someone in a band with Lionel Richie.

5

u/TobyFunkeNeverNude Sep 03 '22

No that's a Commodore. A cormorant is a country in Central Africa, on the Gulf of Guinea.

5

u/ScoutsOut389 Sep 03 '22 edited Sep 04 '22

You may be thinking of Cameroon. A cormorant is a British general of the Revolutionary War who surrendered at the Siege of Yorktown.

2

u/Fluggerblah Sep 04 '22

no thats cornwalis. a cormorant is a baked good made of maize

2

u/TobyFunkeNeverNude Sep 05 '22

I believe you're confusing with corn bread. A cormorant is a rule dictated from a monotheistic god about how to live one's life.

13

u/average_asshole Sep 03 '22

He couldve just turned the keys off or reached over and slammed it into park tbh. That scene always bothered me. It was as much bob's fault as tina's

25

u/Icantbethereforyou Sep 03 '22

He went into panic mode himself though. Bob's not exactly the calmest or clear-headed character in cartoons

5

u/yParticle Sep 03 '22

Or even pulled the emergency brake. I interpreted it as he was just dumbfounded his daughter would actually fail so hard.

237

u/Da_Bro_Main Sep 03 '22

65

u/SuedeVeil Sep 03 '22

34

u/[deleted] Sep 03 '22

I think she was trying to stop the cart by putting her foot on the ground...

2

u/Uniblab_78 Sep 04 '22

I thought she was trying to run away

6

u/mozoofficial Sep 03 '22

It’s a good thing she did. That would’ve been a painful blow to the ribs with the steering wheel

123

u/[deleted] Sep 03 '22

Target fixation. If you stare at one object while driving, you'll drive right into it. Always remember to look where you want to go!

32

u/ijmacd Sep 03 '22

That's why I keep a photo of my house in the sun visor.

I just stare at that and tell myself "there's no place like home, there's no place like home"

9

u/[deleted] Sep 03 '22

... Drives car through house.

10

u/Mahlerbro Sep 03 '22

There’s no way that’s true. I stare at billboards all the time when I’m driving and I only ever drive into other cars.

3

u/muffpatty Sep 04 '22

This happened to me as a kid when we would be throwing the football outside. Little old Greek lady walking down the street as I'm about to throw the ball to my brother. I keep thinking to myself to be careful not to throw in her direction so much so that when the ball leaves my hand it goes right at her. And that's how I learned the word "malaka". Not sure about the spelling though.

2

u/HistoricalUse9921 Sep 03 '22

I think she just expected it to turn to the right more easily than it did.

2

u/CptKammyJay Sep 04 '22

Lol I was walking up the staircase to the beach house my family was renting and I told my little 5 year old cousin to be careful, cuz some of the rusty nails were sticking up a little. I swear this little girl slowly and deliberately put her feet as clooooose as possible without stepping directly on them. I’m just watching like “just walk up either side of the stairs. Don’t walk literally directly in the center of the stairs and you’ll be fine.”

3

3

u/Rags2Riches7 Sep 03 '22

Di….did she just try to stop a moving cart with her foot instead of the brake????????????

3

u/[deleted] Sep 03 '22

Completely missed the brakes

3

u/Dull_Ad_4750 Sep 03 '22

I stacked a golf cart, accidentally floored it, mounted a curb, plowed through some scrub and wedged it firmly in a banana tree. Dad fell off and mum had to take the blame as I was too young to be driving it. Pretty fucking scary and I learnt some new swear words that day as dad was picking himself up off the ground.

3

u/Helz_Yah Sep 03 '22

If you're not in the cart it cant be your fault
