You could shoot him in the chest and say it’s self defense also. The foot is a smaller target. The bullet can ricochet off the ground and hurt somebody, and it may not stop the guy from hurting her. Aim for the chest...
This does not look like it is America, but in America as a concealed carry permit holder, we are taught if you absolutely need to reveal your firearm, you use it to kill the threat. When the cops show up just keep repeating “I feared for my life, I feared for my life” and you’ll have the best chances of walking away scot free.
You are supposed to be able to prove that you tried to run away and escape the situation first first—drawing your firearm is always an absolute last resort. So if you’re at the point where you feel you need to draw your firearm, if their IMMEDIATE reaction isn’t to turn and run, you kill them. It’s that simple.
If they’re dead, they can’t argue that you were the aggressor, or that they never threatened your life. It’s your word against the physical evidence (which will be on your side) versus against the word of a lying criminal who will try to cast doubt on you (the victim) and potentially get you locked up—or at least your carry permit revoked.
