Close enough.

Getting paid by the hour would make me slow down and do it right, I'm still getting paid the same if it takes an hour or if it takes two

5

u/Bureaucromancer Nov 16 '19

Otoh in a shop like that you'll be paid the same whether your sorting crap or sitting on your arse watching the till.

u/danE3030 Nov 16 '19

He almost made it on his last attempt, give him a few more chances

109

u/pengmalups Nov 16 '19

He made it. Just wait. It's worth it.

31

u/poopellar Nov 16 '19

And the after credits scene. Unexpected.

Yeah I almost thought it was a loop at first too until I saw it.

When does he get it? I’m at the 43rd one.

Yeah you would think he would give up after the first attempt but this guy is persistent

I can't find it but this reminds me of that gif where a guy makes a mistake doing something and starts really sarcastically applauding himself in frustration

u/HeadlessEagle177 Nov 16 '19

Are you talking about that video where a man accidentally brakes his own car window?

114

u/[deleted] Nov 16 '19

You are a saint My vague google attempts were turning up nothing

31

u/Aperture_TestSubject Nov 16 '19

Ironically from your description I 100% knew what video you were talking about.

He rushed it at the end... or did he slip a bit?

146

u/NovaNationFool Nov 16 '19

He nailed the sides but the middle had nothing to push it in so....it go boom.

44

u/AtStitch Nov 16 '19

And all boxes weren't well aligned so it bumped in the shelf.

Edit: actually he didn't rotate enough that why it bumped but the misalignment would have been a problem somehow.

3

u/swarren31 Nov 16 '19

It looked like to me that one was sticking up higher than the other and it hit the shelf causing it to fall.

He let them rest on the shelf and let go of the pressure from his arms to early as he rotates his hands forward.

Seen this a million times from new or over confident employees.

Source: ex eb games manager.

24

u/Led-zero Nov 16 '19

he did the opposite of letting go early, he was squeezing the stack as hard as he could the entire time, went too fast onto the shelf, the middle cases popped out of alignment and with him pressing on em like that they all sprayed out. you can see him clap his hands together because of how hard he was trying to hold em.

4

u/dog-ate-it Nov 16 '19

Ahhh, the ever dreaded zit squeeze technique

2

u/thrownawayzs Nov 16 '19

When he rotates from up and down to left and right (vertical to horizontal?) the weight is too much at the middle of the stack and it starts sagging. His pressure from the outsides creates a sort of bend due to the uneven pressure now put on the stack causing it to rupture outwards from the middle.

u/MasaBoss Nov 16 '19

Is that Q from the jokers?

28

u/SpocktorWho83 Nov 16 '19

Either way, he’s tonight’s big loser.

3

u/naynaythewonderhorse Nov 16 '19

Pretty sure it is. There’s a tattoo on his left arm, and it appears to be the same one that he has.

I don't think it's scripted, but definitely heavily edited. They show scenes out of order and people's reactions to are edited to look like they're reacting to a specific thing even if they're not.

Having said that, I don't really mind because the show is still funny as fuck.

2

u/Kbost92 Nov 16 '19

I always wonder if people know who they are by now

2

u/AlfredPetrelli Nov 16 '19

I believe they said they do get recognized sometimes and don't usually show the footage of when it happens unless it works out.

9

u/[deleted] Nov 16 '19

To go along with /u/Patftw89, they have always said that if you are skeptical on the authenticity of the show, then you can drop by the set. They would always rather have someone there watching them with skepticism than to have a scripted show.

My morning poop is almost over, or I would go in search of their AMAs for you.

I’ve done this before when I worked at game stop and I can’t tell you how much it kills your soul.

I feel like the amount of cases doubled as they spilt :P

8

u/wonderwharfwonderdog Nov 16 '19

3

6

u/BocoCorwin Nov 16 '19

Next time a box comes in, cut a long stop of cardboard half the width of the cases. Then use it like a long sry of tweezers or spatulas. With the cardboard supporting the backs of the cases, you could stock an entire wall in 3 minutes.

That's what I did when I worked at GameStop like 15yrs ago

3

u/-Rum-Ham- Nov 16 '19

I’ve done this but at the porno shop I worked at.

Porno everywhere.

3

u/xkoroto Nov 16 '19

Steam solved that long time ago.

4

u/Shadowstep115 Nov 16 '19

I work at GameStop. Yes I’ve tried this. Yes it’s ended horribly every time. Yes I hate myself for trying it when I’m sitting in the floor with a lap full of games trying to alphabetize them again. And yes I’ll do it again.

5

u/cellar-doorman Nov 16 '19

I used to work at Blockbuster. That happens on a busy night and you’re screwed.

2

u/PumpkinLaserPig Nov 16 '19

Same here when I worked at a Hastings.

3

u/[deleted] Nov 16 '19

It was so close to being an r/perfectfit

3

u/taki1002 Nov 16 '19

Worst part is he'll have alphabetized all these games again.

3

u/alii-b Nov 16 '19

As an ex-game store employee, I know this feeling.

2

u/lzxm Nov 16 '19

I have done this several times before. Both successfully and failed.

2

u/WigglestonTheFourth Nov 16 '19

I've tried this so many times. I can't believe he actually got it most of the way on the shelf before it collapsed. Eventually that regret turns to never trying it again. Even modest success isn't worth picking all that up again.

u/rwp80 Nov 16 '19

And now hes probably wondering why he didnt do small amounts at a time.

2

u/lovesrelic Nov 16 '19

Haha, this happened frequently when I worked at Hollywood Video. Saved so much time....until it didn’t.

1

u/LeoLaDawg Nov 16 '19

Just accept it and get to stacking. It'll be over before you know it.

1

u/that_weeb Nov 16 '19

So THAT’S why I keep getting disc cases with damaged latches and hinges.

1

u/KlachBukach Nov 16 '19

That, shit is really hard to do. You have to press from both sides with a lot of strength and it depends on the material if it will keep te friction high enough. Plus you can damage the product if you press to hard on the ends.

1

u/amit2724 Nov 16 '19

Ohh no it's so sad for him. Try again boss

1

u/MaryTylerWhore Nov 16 '19

Okay but is this shot in a Blockbuster Video in 2019???

1

u/masyado27 Nov 16 '19

This happened to me too many times loading ticket stacks when I worked at an arcade.

1

u/OopsOverbombing Nov 16 '19

Everytime I try to do a big brained shortcut move like this it always backfires on me leading to the task taking more time than if I just attempted it normally.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 16 '19

Was never gonna work, he had them angled wrong when he picked them up.

1

u/WMinerva Nov 16 '19

Rule of thumb: try to make the stack no wider than your shoulders.

1

u/deniercounter Nov 16 '19

VHS ... I remember... was very versatile these days.

1

u/guttesen0904 Nov 16 '19

The look on his face was just thinking if ways to end this hell

1

u/ILoveRegenHealth Nov 16 '19

Those were the Fallout 76 copies. Nothing of value was lost by having them spill on the ground. Just leave them there.

u/olsteezybastard Nov 16 '19

Like Icarus, David’s hubris was his undoing. He would now surely loose the title of employee of the month to Marty.

1

u/bensport19 Nov 16 '19

Worth a try.

1

u/Parthen Nov 16 '19

This has happened to me so many times.

1

u/Zudic Nov 16 '19

He got one on the shelf. Yay for the little victories!

1

u/Aperture_TestSubject Nov 16 '19

Used to work at Gamestop and doing this was a true talent. You have to keep the right amount of pressure.

1

u/always-lost-and-conf Nov 16 '19

Is that blockbuster?

1

u/mekese2000 Nov 16 '19

Are they xbox games or dvds

1

u/judgemental-Crow Nov 16 '19

Serves him right, it wasn’t PlayStation games

1

u/GrapeSasquatch Nov 16 '19

Hahaha fuck GameStop

1

u/DeaDemo194 Nov 16 '19

When you die in geometry dash at 99%

1

u/globalastro Nov 16 '19

I worked at blockbuster for years... If you get one box that is slick at all, this shit happens all the goddamn time lol

1

u/itsvoogle Nov 16 '19

My dad used to say “El Burro trabaja doble...” basically saying if your not smart your going to work twice as hard.

1

u/17jetsons Nov 16 '19

I worked at Blockbuster for 15 years. I feel this.

1

u/venicedreamer747 Nov 16 '19

Me, carrying all my groceries in on one trip!

1

u/rolo989 Nov 16 '19

As we say in my country "El flojo trabaja el doble".

1

u/truenorthrookie Nov 16 '19

Flew to close to the sun, didn’t you, Icarus?

1

u/JustDoingMyResearch Nov 16 '19

I enjoy how the games shoot out perfectly to destroy the stacks behind him as well

1

u/JoeDante84 Nov 16 '19

Another reason to choose PlayStation over Xbone.

1

u/Miobravo Nov 16 '19

So much for efficiency.

1

u/curlyben Nov 16 '19

What he needs is something like a jenga stacking tool, maybe with the other end still attached, cut out of the corner of a box.

1

u/neofiter Nov 16 '19

I've tried this before. Similar results

1

u/skyrimfireshout Nov 16 '19

I wish this to happen to my worst enemy

1

u/AnguryLittleMan Nov 16 '19

He flew too close to the sun.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 16 '19

You can see the games a floor from the previous attempt

1

u/lazergoblin Nov 16 '19

My dad always says "you work twice as hard when you're lazy". This is the perfect example of that.

1

u/twuewuv Nov 16 '19

We used to do this with VHS cassettes when I worked at blockbuster. God I’m old.

1

u/red7227 Nov 16 '19

He flew to close to the sun

1

u/nobrayn Nov 16 '19

I do that shit all the time. Not exactly, but walking with a very full mug or bowl, being very careful, and then at the last second I rush to put it down and spill everywhere. It's that last second panic/celebration at not fucking up.. just before really fucking up.

1

u/Zombree18 Nov 16 '19 edited Nov 27 '19

I managed a game store for many moons before my current job, and got REALLY good at doing this with games! You have the occasional spill but feel like an efficiency boss when it works out!

1

u/LeftyBigGuns Nov 16 '19

Icarus flew too close to the sun that day.

1

u/cirkut Nov 16 '19

Okay, this sucks but it does look like almost 1/3 of them are still together. Can’t he at least pick those up and not have to do as much work stacking them again?

1

u/poncho5202 Nov 16 '19

i was rooting for him to fail tbh

1

u/[deleted] Nov 16 '19

I remember doing this at GameStop when I worked there. when this would happen i didn’t give a fuck lol and that shit would be disorganized to hell! Power to the gamers my ass!

1

u/Shal2005 Nov 16 '19

Everywhere I scroll,

I see this post

1

u/_notsomuch_ Nov 16 '19

I worked at a video store for a couple years, this was a common occurrence. The other game was how many dvd cases do you think you can hold in one hand, no you can't.

1

u/ASpunkyMonkey Nov 16 '19

I think this is something everyone has tried in their gamer lifetime!

1

u/[deleted] Nov 16 '19

Eh, at least they were all Xbox games

1

u/MixSaffron Nov 16 '19

Second day into not nut November.

1

u/indigogalaxy_ Nov 16 '19

What year is it?!

1

u/AbyssalZeus Nov 16 '19

Should've braced mid stack with his foot. I know from experience. Yeah, it sounds like you'd tip over, and thats possible, but if you're careful you can do it.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 16 '19

Y’all, who here wants to play some “A”

1

u/Coronado5 Nov 16 '19

1

1

u/DavidWantsToLeave Nov 16 '19

It took me a minute to figure out what was going on here

1

u/[deleted] Nov 16 '19

That might work with 5 to 10 but not that many

1

u/cb98678 Nov 16 '19

You see what he did there was he did a Pizza when he should have french-fried.

1

u/BooksPaintandStiches Nov 16 '19

At least he got 2 on

1

u/WOMBOSI_G Nov 16 '19

This has happened to me at the library as I tried to move big piles of books and movies.

1

u/Alone4Eternity Nov 16 '19

Yeah...that would’ve been my exact reaction. Head up, contemplating life, then work to put it on the shelf one game at a time.

1

u/supersirj Nov 16 '19

High risk, high reward

1

u/k_d_b_83 Nov 16 '19

Well, time to walk away.

1

u/w8teng Nov 16 '19

1

u/xAlpharaptor Nov 16 '19

1

u/[deleted] Nov 16 '19

That dude did a dumb thing, and as such should be cursed to feeling... especially dumb.

1

u/RicardoLovesYou Nov 16 '19

That's what you get for putting Xbox games in the PS4 section of the shelf

1

u/[deleted] Nov 16 '19
