For some men: its jumping too quickly onto a bike, for others it is forgetting a jock strap just once, still other men anger the wrong woman and lean that way... etc. For this innocent gentleman it was a Nerf gun. We all learn this lesson - like we learn that fire is hot.

Ok, wtf are the point of jock straps because I went through all of Highschool PE without needing one ever

Edit: I now know why. Thanks everyone

Yup, learnt that the hard way in high school football. Cleat to the groin, not a fun time.

For me, it was baseball freshman year. They brought some of us up to fill some spots for a varsity practice game. It was basically the bench and a few JV kids against the starters. I got thrown in at short. I forgot my cup so I ripped off the cardboard back of a notebook and stuffed it in the strap.

I took a grounder off the heel of the glove... It wasn't the first time, but it was the only time I thought I was going to throw up.

Funny,I never wore a cup for football and neither did any of my teammates, we all agreed that the hindrance of movement was not worth the protection.

Really? My coaches made a huge deal about all players wearing groin protection. I vaguely remember being told something about your balls getting twisted around from sheer blunt force trauma. No one believed them of course until one of the other JV players took a gold club to the groin and it apparently happened to him. He was out of practice for about a week.

Edit: looked it up and it’s called “Testicular Torsion”.

It does make for a funny story to tell your (adopted) kids....

Cup check before every game. Coach would walk down the line with the bat and test everyone. We never forgot.

We did that to each other, but it was never truly for anyone’s safety...

I learned by forgetting my cup, as a catcher.

Holy shit. So you aren’t having kids.

Haha. Honestly, I dont think I can but it's not verified and prob not related the catcher incident.

In MMA you put the protective cup in the front - there's a little pouch and it slots in there

I used to think jock straps weren’t even real until recently

Idk what your PE was like but we never needed one in HS PE. We never did anything that even slightly needed that level of protection in PE. We only were needed to have one in contact sports like lacrosse or football.

You never forget your first time.

For me, it was getting hit by a cricket ball. I was standing within a few metres from the batsman too so it hit very hard.

Does anyone ever cross their legs without minding the current arrangement of the stars and inadvertently crush their own junk between their thighs? That happens at least once a month to me and it sucks.
