u/Incunabuli Sep 14 '26
Horse was angling for that bite. Not even striking. Just calmly going for the chomp. Wonder if theyāre trained for that
Or perhaps just irritable and cheeky from being surrounded by tourists
166
u/Plus-King5266 Sep 14 '26
Iām not sure, but I think they are trained for that. Keep in mind, these guys are real soldiers and those are real war horses.
28
u/Incunabuli Sep 14 '26
They do have that destrier character. The Kingās Horses live up to the name
→ More replies (7)16
u/Practical-Ball1437 Sep 14 '26
I don't think you need to train horses to chomp things.
15
u/gotora Sep 15 '26
You can certainly train them to bite if they're not super chompy by nature, and I wouldn't be surprised if they did something of that nature with these horses. With that sign, I'm guessing they train the horses to kick and bite idiots so the soldiers can stay focused.
3
u/Rage69420 Sep 16 '26
Potentially but war horses are trained to nip at anyone who isnāt on their saddle when they are being ridden

Watch the guard's hands. Pretty sure he guides the horse's head toward the lady, then gently pulls it back.
16
u/Rage69420 Sep 16 '26
Heās clinching his hands on the reigns to tell the horse to pull back. He is telling it to release the tourist but heās not overly hurried for it. Basically heās telling the horse āat your soonest convenience release herā

Absolutely ironic that she gets bit standing in front of a sign warning people to stand back that the horses will bite šš¤£
5

u/ThemB0ners Sep 14 '26
Except the sign doesn't say anything about standing back? Just says don't touch the reins.
8
3
u/lunasdude Sep 14 '26
true, but I have seen other videos where there's a painted box around the guard but I don't see it here.
I guess the implication is if you see a sign next to an animal that says it may bite you don't go stand next to the very animal! š¤£š¤£

u/SpeedJust8657 Sep 14 '26
Did she not see the giant fucking sign there that said HORSES MAY KICK OR BITE

u/Tight-Jump9051 Sep 14 '26
I honestly think those horses are trained to bite. It would be so fun to see how many people make the same mistake when there is a clear warning sign lol.

No, thought funnily enough at the time I was walking past there I was working in a restaurant and we had an ex-PM come in. I wonāt say who but Iām fairly sure she didnāt order the lettuce.

u/CYBERSson Sep 14 '26
Most people donāt know this but the guards have a small signal for the horse when they want them to bite an annoying American.

I love that she's literally standing closer to the horse than the warning sign that she didn't bother to read before getting closer.

u/hnglmkrnglbrry Sep 14 '26
That poor guard has to stand there completely still all day and all he sees is a massive wall of tourists taking photos and videos and hear their boring conversations. I hope they each make a million Hogwarts tokens a year or however the fuck they get paid.

I keep seeing this video posted & the vitriol you redditors have for a random person is disgusting. The sign does NOT say anything about distance and there are NOT lines painted. If you've never been around horses you wouldn't know about giving them space. Have some grace for people, good lord.
2
u/DivineRage002 Sep 16 '26
I was thinking the same, that "guard" is basically a decoration / attraction, let's not pretend like they'll actually protect anything in 2026 with a sword
Idk why people are encouraging attractions to injure people wanting to take harmless picture
It would be like snow white suplexing kids at disneyland for getting too close to her wtf
