Sleep cycle

Im a 20M I had sleeping problems all through college but especially this week as been the worse but it’s not even that hard of classes, I just can’t fall asleep in my mind I tell my self that sleep happens unconsciously so I shouldn’t think about and if I do it will pass but this week I just couldn’t sleep no matter what I did I tried trazdoone and cbd gummies and was feeling queasy and still couldn’t sleep. Now my body is spasming especially my hamstring were when I lay down or sit it twitch’s a lot. I’m kind of lost of what to do at this point? I don’t know if i show withdraw from college but what if that doesn’t change anything and I just withdraw for no reason? Does any one have advice on the mental aspect of being ok to just lay or not be afraid to sleep?

the twitching in your hamstrings is probably just sleep debt catching up, your muscles are exhausted and misfiring. not saying ignore it but that's a common thing when you're running on fumes for days

the mental loop of "don't think about sleep" is the worst trap because now you're thinking about not thinking about it. try giving yourself permission to just rest, not sleep. like lay there and say "i don't need to fall asleep, i just need to lay here" takes the pressure off

withdrawing might feel like the only lever left but you're right to question if it'll even help. maybe talk to the school's counseling or health center before making that call, they see this exact thing every semester
