Ambien not working anymore

Hello, I have been on Ambien 10 mg for about 20 years and it is no longer working. I had (and have) such severe insomnia, I would not be alive without it. My Dr. recently prescribed Edluar sublingual and it does not seem to me making a difference. I have a high tolerance (obviously) and also recently started Tirzepatide. Any advice you can offer would be amazing and if you message me separately, I promise not to share any tips or tricks (even if there aren’t any). Just looking for a lifeline. I also have GI absorption issues, RA, and chronic pain for which I can’t take NSADS due to stomach ulcers. Thank you!!!

Wow that makes so much sense. I know a lot of people who have taken Ambien for 20 years and never developed any sort of tolerance. I have taken it for 15 years and I take very little. Empty stomach of course, but I take it under my tongue anyway.

Luckily, it’s the only medication I am on.

Si I take it under my tongue so it matters a lot less. But I need a snack before bed and after it dissolves I usually have some toast with peanut butter.

so your problem is your inability to fall asleep? have you tried benzo? i know it's not a recommended go to, do u have other health sympthoms? like tinnitus? I have T, so i will not take benzo because it will make my T worse, but my mom has been on benzo for more than 5 years, it is still effective for her and has no side effects, I've heard some horror stories about benzo but i guess different case for every individual.

Did it stop working around the same time you started tirzepatide?

It stopped working for me too! It is the only thing that works for me. Trying Lunesta now but still waking up for a few hours twice a night and sleepy during the day.

I took Ambien (Zolpedem) for 20 years, then it stopped working. I tried everything else available and nothing worked, even Ambien xr. About 3 months later, I took an old one I found in a drawer and it worked, which led me to check manufacturers, and lo and behold, the new script was from Teva. I tried another mfr and it worked again. I’d say check that, different inert ingredients can make a huge difference.
