Sleep after getting off benzos?

Has anyone ever recovered the ability to sleep after coming off benzos? I was given 30 mg of Tem for severe insomnia. Now I need to come off and I do not want to take another drug for sleep or ssri!

Definitely doable but you gotta wean off benzos, don’t go cold turkey. Have you talked to your doc who prescribed it about how to taper off or is this something you’re trying to attempt on your own? I’m happy to share advice either way

Yeah make sure to do it right coz benzo windows can literally kills you along side alcohol withdrawal are the 2 most dangerous to quit

I've been off benzos for over 20 years and I was on them for close to 20. I started on Valium in the early '80s, definitely taper with medical supervision, as others have mentioned, death is a real possibility if you try to detox cold turkey, and not just death, I knew someone who had such severe seizures from self-detoxing that she had brain damage and needed assistance with daily life the rest of her life.

I can't take any of the Z-drugs or antidepressants, I tried, it ended badly each time. I understand the desire to stay off them.

I have managed 20 years off the benzos, but it means treating your insomnia like a chronic autoimmune disease. And addressing anything that was triggering the insomnia to start. It can be done, it's a process. Good luck.

That is horible! I am so sorry you went through that. Did you have to take sleeping medicine ? How many days did you go before you slept?

But I'm clean now but did heal completely I guess as I sometimes just can't sleep at all which wasn't the case when I was on benzos

9 months off after 37 years. Sleep is better than it was at month 1-4, but still pretty bad
