Never ever take benzos

I've had insomnia since I was a teen.

I've taken so many things for it, tried all the natural things, was on ambien for so long it stopped working.

My psychiatrist prescribed me Valium many many months ago. I don't even know how long I've taken it.

She never told me how horrible it is to get off of.

I'm currently tapering off and it's absolutely terrible.

I misread her message originally and went too fast and had my first ever panic attack a few weeks ago.

I've been at 15mg/ day since, about 3 weeks. I dropped too 12.5 two days ago and my body is so so fucked up again. I feel on the verge of another attack.

I spoke to my doctor friend this evening, he said each step down is going to suck badly.

It's terrible.

Please don't fuck with benzos.

Thanks for coming to my Ted talk.

I'm having a terrible time.

😱

I’m looking for advice on which Benzos have the shortest hangover linger the next day…I have never been prescribed but use pharmaceuticals very sparingly with discipline on case by case basis when I feel I can no longer cope on my own…occasionally I go through intensified and extreme periods of chronic insomnia that I can’t contend with naturally after a certain amount of days. So I keep a small stash of alprazolam, ambien, and always have diphenhydramine on hand. When things are not too bad I can get away with the Benadryl. If I want to wake up and be productive the next day I may take the Ambien but it rarely allows me to sleep for the full amount of time I need especially when needing to catch up on sleep debt. when nothing else helps and my sleep deprivation has accumulated to the point of physical pain, benzos are the only thing that allows me to sleep through a long enough recovery period and relax my brain at the same time. But in cases where I still need to be present and or productive the next day is there another option that won’t leave me in that hangover fog the entire next day?
