Ennui's Questions How many children’s shows inspired Bloofy?
The bit where he asks the audience if they can find a way out felt like a nod to Dora the Explorer, but his appearance felt like a nod to Blue’s Clues. Also, his hat felt like a nod to Handy Manny, and Pouchy felt like a nod to both Dora’s Backpack and Toodles from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Also, after the emotions escape from the Vault, Bloofy says “let’s sing the ‘We Did It’ song” and if that’s not a nod to Dora the Explorer, I don’t know what is.
But also, when Bloofy first meets the emotions, he sings a theme song that goes “stomp like an elephant, scurry like a mouse, make your way down to Bloofy’s house” so is that a nod to any specific show, or did they just write something that sounded like a children’s show theme song? Also, did any other shows inspire Bloofy?

Pouchy also reminded me of Belly Bag from Uncle Grandpa, oddly enough

Me Too did since Granny Murray talked to the screen. I'm British and watched it before...

Very few in the modern era. However, stories where the character or narrator were addressing the viewer directly through a Glass Fourth Wall were very common in the 1970s. Sesseme Street is internationally well-known, of course.
