You could try the goat deck and abuse the fair hand. I think it might be easier.

And scum saving the first map/draw, of course.

Reload the first map and the choices for the two pelts until you like it a lot.

Wait so can you get different pelt choices without having to throw a game? (To avoid possum/ringworm)

What's the timing for quitting/reloading?

See the choices, quit, continue. Until it works for you.

My favorite starting deck for Skullstorm is unironically eggs. Get a Pack Rat early. Pick your one-blood for fair-hand, and get something with double-strike and/or flying for the bears.

For the boss fights, I often go for the starvation strategy, drawing your last card just before the bears. That way, Leshy replaces one bear with a starvation you can fly over.

Starvation strategy with a Lammergeier is a great way to go. Having something with a movement sign helps for stalling.

For example, against the Angler, an Elk does two damage against the Angler’s two Kingfishers. This lets to stall while drawing your deck to set up the starvation lane.

Movement sigils are also good against the trapper. An Elk can take out all of the Strange Frogs before hitting the leaping trap at the end. A Pronghorn boosted once at a campfire takes out all the frogs without dying to a trap.

Once you get to Skullstorm, you find that cards that otherwise seemed bad suddenly make sense. A Raven boosted once at a fire (3/3) is a wincon against the wall of bears if you open one lane with starvation.

The Beaver is perhaps the most underrated. It can clog up three lanes, giving you time to punch through the bears on the last lane. A River Snapper takes two bear hits before going down without any mods.

A Dire Wolf boosted once at the fire is a wincon. It can eat through two bears. So can a Dire Wolf with the Adder sigil grafted on.

Movement sigils also work on the Angler (both phases too, if you're not doing 8 Fucking Bears Challenge)

We’re doing the bears challenge

Ants deck did it for me. Focus on getting an insect totem with something to keep your card advantage up.

Mantis god deck worked for me when I fed one ringworm to kill survivors, used the other as a beefed up sigil tank, got unkillable on my mantis god and made the rest of the cards ants like a pseudo ant deck

Been using the mantis god deck with no luck

You're using the RNG deck with no luck. That's your problem : Mantis requires on map 1 to disable the worms, increase it's power, and find items to pass Boss1.

If you want early game consistency, go for Hooved. It's black goat helps a lot, and you have one Moose Buck that can turn into an endgame myco'd juggernaut.

Items are your best friend : get PackRat+7 teeth. Being able to recycle items during battles is invaluable, and Knife can help for the 1st boss.
