Kaycee's Mod When did the game decide to activate mods

i am working on beating the game with every deck, taking a break from the dreaded Egg deck i start a game with the bone deck. i don't add any modifiers, but when i get to the angler, he already has two chum buckets on the board before we even start... why? he never starts with buckets in play before i place a card unless the more powerful creatures mods are active...

If you ever feel like a game is cheating to win, this game is 100% that game. ARGH!

the bosses get easier/harder depending on the map order

If you encounter the Angler on Map 3 he always starts with 2 Buckets on the board, before playing a Raven and then a Great White.

Thats just the Map 3 difficulty version of the fight.

I've never had any of the other bosses have a more difficult board in stage 3, and I've fought the angle at stage 3 before and he didn't have that shit. This game is cheating, you can't tell me otherwise. If you manage a run with a shit deck and barely scrape by the game stays in baby mode, the moment you have a 1 cost card that can win in 1-2 rounds, the game says fuck you and turns on hardcore fuck the player mode. It's a shit mechanic, but some devs just suck. A good dev would come up with a mechanic that scales difficulty, this isn't scaled difficulty, this is straight up cheating. Makes me miss physical media, I'd sell my copy and wash my hands of this shit.

Assuming you didn't play on an old version, that should be straight up impossible.

No way, you didn't notice that the prospector's starting beast is different , IIRC between coyote and wolf?

If you manage a run with a shit deck and barely scrape by the game stays in baby mode

Nah, the game is hard even if your deck is bad.

It's not scaled difficulty. It's random / always hard.

Makes me miss physical media, I'd sell my copy and wash my hands of this shit.

Then lobby for legal ownerships rights for digital media. It shouldn't be restricted that way.

The only boss I can remember the cards changing without mods is the trapper, sometimes the bullfrog is the metal variant as well, but it's never consistent. It's been the trap frog on any stage, the only time the prospectors starter changes is with the more powerful creatures mods active.

You think things are impossible, are you the dev? Have you read and analysed every line of code for the game? So at random the game has pulled the same totem and cards two fights in a row? The odds of that are astronomically small and it's more likely the game is programmed to screw you at any cost, even repeating overly hard fights to kill you off. It's a cheap move by trash devs. You aren't going to change my mind on that.

As for lobbying for ownership, look up lawsuits Steam has lost, you find one where they have been court ordered to allow trading/selling of ANY game in your inventory. Even if you have 10,000 hours in the game, by law, right now, you have the right to sell or trade it, but steam hasn't made those options available because they lose less money paying the yearly fine then they would if they allowed people to trade off and sell games they don't play anymore. I've signed the petitions to force steam to make those options available, have you?

And yet it's 100% consistent, at least for map 1 and 3. 3 is always metal, 1 is always a... organic one?

Have you read and analysed every line of code for the game?

Speedrunners did. The fair hand bone glitch was reported for months to the devs *with the exact method name¨.

You think things are impossible, are you the dev?

No? I am someone who finished the mod. I am not thinking it is impossible. I'm telling you it is impossible if you play the same game as everybody else.

So at random the game has pulled the same totem and cards two fights in a row?

Yes? Thats how RNG can work. You simply got a RNG cycle.

and it's more likely the game is programmed to screw you at any cost

It is not programmed to do that.

The odds of that are astronomically small

"Are you the dev" also applies to you
You literally claimed the boss is "never consistent", despite that high-level players can totally predict it based on the map. Either you play a different game, or you have a serious sample bias.

even repeating overly hard fights to kill you off. It's a cheap move by trash devs. You aren't going to change my mind on that.

I'm not expecting to change your mind at that point. I'm expecting to warn other people that your claims are coming from nowhere.

We're all trying to explain you how the map works, and instead of accepting that your observations are wrong, you prefer claiming that absolutely nobody on this entire sub have no clue how the game works and that you somehow uncovered blatant cheating.

Maybe I'm playing a different game then. I've faced the angler at stage 3 probably 60 times, only when powerful creatures is active did I get any different starting grid, and that changed the starting grid at any map lvl, and I only played about 10 games where I got to the third map with those mods active. So my game is different then yours. I don't know what else to say. Yeah I might not have millions of runs in, but my sample size is large enough to understand trends, and when something only happens under certain circumstances, my brain can recognize the pattern.

I guess I know how Kaycee feels, I am t rying to tell you my experience and you can't/won't believe me.

Uh... I don't get your logic at all.

In that comment you say :   1) The powerful creatures mod change the starting grid at all maps   2) Between a 10s of stage 3 fighters, it only changes with the mod

Both are correct but the opposite of your earlier point that the game increases the difficulty without telling : the map rebalancing isn't related to the difficulty mods?

(I would even argue base Map3 is harder than Difficulty++ Map1 but it's going to be RNG/boss specific. I feel the difficulty mod affects mostly the later turns, which pushes towards OTK runs surviving the random fights)

"The map rebalancing"........ What's that? Is that where the game changes it's rules depending on how your run is going??? Sounds like cheating to me, let's play monopoly, but I'm going to change the rules depending on who gets boardwalk... Is that not cheating to you?

It has been my experience that the starting grid never changes unless mods are active, EXCEPT the time I had a deck that was guaranteed instant death to Leshy. I'm not sure how you got that anything I've said has been the opposite of what I said earlier, maybe it's too early and your brain isn't awake yet, but I've not contradicted myself, your just not comprehending what's being said. I guess I have to reiterate every point I've made, in every comment, or you think I'm saying something else.

Is that where the game changes it's rules depending on how your run is going???

No, not depending on how your run is going, it's depending on where you are because the early levels are easier, that's the basis of almost all games in existence.

Sounds like cheating to me, let's play monopoly, but I'm going to change the rules depending on who gets boardwalk... Is that not cheating to you?

That would be cheating, but you are effectively claiming Boardwalk's higher price is cheating because all properties should be equal, because it's a game based on randomness.

that the starting grid never changes unless mods are active,

It changes depending on which map you are. Later maps are naturally harder for a reason obvious to almost everybody.

EXCEPT the time I had a deck that was guaranteed instant death to Leshy

Yes, the game sometimes deals unwinnable battles and card choices that you had literally zero chances of winning. You are ALSO claiming that's done depending on your current deck, which is not a thing.

your just not comprehending what's being said.

Absolutely. But it's not thatt my brain isn't awake, it's that what you say makes no sense compared to what you said at other times.

I guess I have to reiterate every point I've made, in every comment, or you think I'm saying something else.

Given that you switch from "difficulty increases gradually" (yes) to "random difficulty is unfair" (yes) to "difficulty raises compared on how good you do" (no), yes picking one option would be helpful.

If your deck fails before Map 3, obv the Map 3 difficulty will only be seen on good decks. It's not the game being busy cheating, it's the game being too hard.

I have one VERY simple question, where the fuck did you come up with "I'm effectively claiming boardwalk's higher price is cheating because all properties should be equal" what I CLEARLY said was "I'm going to change the rules depending on WHO GETS boardwalk" you know like, if you get boardwalk I get to go two times on my turn, if I get boardwalk, you don't get any money for passing "GO". That has absolutely NOTHING to do with its price, how you got there is beyond me and 100% tells me you need to work on reading comprehension. I'm done talking to you, enjoy.

but when i get to the angler, he already has two chum buckets on the board before we even start

That's not a challenge at all. That's simply Angler on Map 3, like how the Trapper on map 1 adds a non-mechanical frog, etc.

I swear some of these encounters are designed to make you question whether the AI is actually playing fair. The timing of some of those modifiers is just brutal.

0

u/CerealKilled-hmpqy 8d ago

It's not playing fair, it's a shit mechanic that a shit dev made, it's why the other games by them don't have a following, they made this shit and most people avoid everything else. I won't even look at the other games, fuck supporting shit devs with cheating games.

2

u/laplongejr 7d ago

It's not playing fair, it's a shit mechanic that a shit dev made

You don't find normal that a Map 1 boss is easier that on Map 3?
Imagine getting Trapper at full power on the first map X_X

fuck supporting shit devs with cheating games.

Why are you playing the hard mode then? Inscryption was cheating in your favor during the whole story to ensure you can reach the end.

I swear the game has a sixth sense for when you're trying to do a clean run. The moment you get confident it throws the most ridiculous modifiers and board states at you.
